Haha, well I started by consulting tech forums and that's where I was baffled.

To be fair, the router had a longer ethernet cable so I could place it further away so the cabin my brother and I built nearby can receive WiFi signals.

Know that feeling so damn well, it even adds to the salt when you buy a new Ethernet card when you didn't needed it.

O_o Actually, I wouldn't call not catching that right off a bad thing. I've honestly never seen anything like that before...I mean, cables are usually an all or nothing thing. If they are bad, they tend to have been that way or were damaged.
