Tech/gamer furs... I need PlayStation 3 help.

So, I finally have enough funds to buy myself a PlayStation 3. And now that I do, I want to be sure I am buying the right one. Basically, I am looking for as much PS1 AND PS2 compatibility as possible. Finding the right system won't be a problem for me.
I read from Wikipedia that the 60GB version of the system is no longer in production, but is the most backward compatible. Is this correct? What is the difference between the PS2 HARDWARE compatibility using the "Emotion Engine" in the 60GB, versus the SOFTWARE compatibility using an emulator in the 80GB and other models? Which of those two is more backwards compatible with more games?
Thanks to any that can help!

I am not sure about the 60gig versus the 80gig emulator thing, I'll ask my mate who was a refurbisher for the same warehouse I worked at. =) Maybe he can help you a bit more.
I hope what I had said helped you some.
Thank you so much, this helped a great deal! I worked at Game Stop as well, but at a store, so all I knew was that my coworkers told me that the 60GB is more backwards compatible.
Anyhow, again, than you sooo much for the info!
the 80 gig can play "most" of the ps2 games, but some can't, check this link out to see what games can work with the 80 gig, http://www.us.playstation.com/Suppo.....mpatibleStatus
well, I say, go with the 60 gig model. If you need help finding one, let me know, and i can search around for ya.
