GOD DAMMIT WACOM
Well, the "repaired" Cintiq Companion that I got back a month ago once again started up with the "plugged in but not charging" problem, so once again I backed up everything on Monday and sent it off to the factory, requesting a new system this time.
Well, it came yesterday! Missing the Windows ID code that's necessary for the initial setup. Now I was planning to spend the weekend making up for the lost drawing time this week, but it seems that their tech support doesn't operate on the weekend, so I can't call to request the code they failed to supply.
But screw that, I can't wait around all weekend doing nothing. So I bought a copy of Windows 8.1 online for the code. But the Companions start with the regular 8.0 version, so the code is invalid.
All in all, if you are considering purchasing something from Wacom, please, please consider a different brand, such as the Surface Pro series. Wacom has a solid core product, but have sat on that monopolized tech for over a decade and have been running their business into the ground ever since.

WHAT ARE YOU TELLING ME, YOU MONSTER
Looking forward to your art as always!
But thanks! I'm eager to get drawing again as soon as possible~
That in itself is annoying, but it was having to send it back twice for repairs and losing weeks of work time (since I use it for my "real" job as well), and then getting shipped a refurbished Gen 1 without the Windows code needed to activate it that really eroded my trust in them.
Actually, I just had a small adventure trying to find something to upgrade from it... Thinking that the new Wacom AES was going to be better than N-trig, I ended up getting a Best Buy exclusive Lenovo Yoga 14 for about $1k... and, though I can't say if it's all of them, this tablet at least was useless for drawing. The pen jitter was so severe that it looked like someone with palsy trying to draw.
Returned it, and lucked out on the MS store selling a few remaining Vaio Z Canvas tablets, and managed to snag one for the same price. Haven't got it yet, so fingers crossed...
I really find that the only way to figure out if a stylus is artist-worthy is to dig around for artists' reviews on specific models.
Those reviews... ugh, Most of the time when you look on a review for a penabled tablet the person just scribbles like a 2-year old... good reviews for all of these things are really hard to find.
Anyway, that's a big part of the reason why this situation's kinda taken me by surprise!
It'll be fine though, just gotta wait a couple more days extra before I can get back to it than originally planned.
One time it broke three days after getting a replacement. It's kind of nuts, and the drivers themselves are so awful too that even when the hardware's working you still get problem.
I thought the basic tablets were the most stable of their product line, since they don't have to worry about display software/hardware for any built-in screen!
Anyway, here's the official product page: http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_227132.html
And the techtablets review: http://techtablets.com/cube-i7-stylus/review/
This tax season I decided that I wanted to finally upgrade, and it was a such a nightmare. The best resources I found ended up being /r/stylus on reddit, and this: http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/thr.....-stylus.67533/
Which is basically a superlist of tablets with stylus support. I ended up with a Vaio Z Canvas, from the MS-store sale, and so far.... damn. N-trig has gotten good since it was bought out.
Good luck with your Companion replacement! Hopefully this one will have all the kinks massaged out.
