I was about to ask the same thing. I use AdBlock, but on some sites I disable it. It depends on if the page has obnoxious and large ads, in particular Pop-up ones. Or those that make sounds.
I use it on most sites but disable it on sites like FlightRising, because I know it is an independent site, while I tend to leave it on for sites like Youtube, though I know some creators get direct revenue from the ads before their videos. Sadly I have to leave it on while on FA because I have had a few friends pick up viruses from the ads simply displayed on the site.
Not AdBlock specifically, but a blocker with the same functionality, yes.
Ads are more often than not just too intrusive and shitty to put up with. So I'd rather have an adblocker and whitelist the ones I want to support, than deal with all ads from every source.
Indeed. They're always getting more invasive - no doubt partially due to adblockers, but it would likely still happen without them - to the point that I almost consider them as poorly as viruses or malware sometimes.
I do because of Youtube, they only care about mainstream music, movies and games, so I need ad block, I use to turn it off on DA but since they changed premium to core and made it expensive to buy I enabled ad block on DA for turning into a corporatism site.
I have adblock but I don't actually use it as much (I've disabled it on all the sites I regularly go on, I really only use it for Twitch; fucking preroll ads). I do have a few other blockers though I always have going, uBlock and Disconnect and stuff, which aren't specifically adblockers but that's the majority of what ends up getting blocked.
ABP (AdBlocker Plus) has given me the least issues out of those that I have tried so far on FireFox. I use it everywhere that is unknown to me, just to be safe. Also, because I'd rather not froth at the mouth and go into a seizure every time I log onto a movie site or blog.
I do, but only because I use a LOT of YouTube for music and such, and before I used AdBlock, I had a terrible problem where pages would just upright stop responding because of ads. Videos would outright refuse to load, forcing me to reload the page and have to watch another one until it 'decided' to work, ads wouldn't close on forums, so on. Once I installed it, however, never had a problem again.
Yes I do. Actually I use the windows hostfile so the browsers one doesn't have much work, so the browsers are much faster since windows jus routes everything to localhost.
Cute :>
Blocking apps.skype.com works pretty good for me, but spams my event file with Schannel error. So I blocked it via IE since Skype uses IE for ads etc.

voted as well, I use it, In a time where everything is instant, why do they have 5 minute unskipable ads on youtube? or loud intrusive ads everywhere else?
I've never bothered with it because the only kinds of adds that annoy me are ones that make noise (I hate having to search through several tabs just to find the one with a musical commercial on it -.-'). Since those kinds of adds are pretty rare on sites I go to, I don't have a use for it :P
Well, to me, the chance of something like that happening just doesn't seem significant enough on well-travelled websites (but maybe that's because I haven't been screwed over by any malware to date :\ )
Would you rather have something and not need it, than to need it and not have it? :P
Ads are pretty bad on many sites, so I send a message by blocking them. Any site that needs to load up 50 different ads and stuff to stay alive isn't doing very well and may not be a good site to begin with. :P
I've been using adblock in one form or another for so long I don't even know what the internet is with ads. I turned it off just to see and man...what a mess. People use is like this?.. I do have it disabled on blendernation.com and have actually clicked a couple of the relevant ads there.
Who wouldn't use an AdBlocker? Ads are cancerous and make webpages take longer to load. Additionally, running on Flash or Java which causes security issues.
Honestly do yourself a favor and install an AdBlocker to save yourself a headache from intrusive ads.
I don't use any kind of adblock honestly, but I feel like I'm in the minority on that. I've bought a few things from ads that I've seen on FB, and I've found a few nice artists on the FA ads here, so I don't mind them.
I have it because I'm always tired of getting hit with ads that prioritize themselves over what you are doing. If it was at the beginning of a video or in the middle, then I am okay with it, but when I am looking at a picture or something, and an advertisement video keeps repeatedly playing, even when I close out of it, I get upset because it's ruining the reason I'm even there.
It's the same functionality as AdBlock, only every now and again it pops up with a little button. Click it, you see a big advert, and the money raised from that goes towards a charity of your choice from a set list (Stuff like Water.org, Educate!, Action against Hunger, etc.).
It's a fantastic thing that works really well. Highly recommend!
Yes I do. Why? Because it's almost a necessity. To avoid being tracked, to avoid these ads that can be bad for your computer and to make pages loading faster.
Yep, and Flashblock and Stoptube and Noscript and Remove It Permanently. I feel good after making previously bubbly bloaty pages clean and simple. And my ISP has a download cap, so all of the non consensual data loading without those tools would quickly plow me into the slow zone for the rest of the month.
Yup, but Adblock Plus, since Adblock is no longer available for FireFox.

It blocks ads in your web pages.

I've been using an advertisement blocker ever since I had the opportunity to. Now I cannot turn it off...

And the reason why is viruses and malware / spyware
I tried not using it for one day a few months ago and swiftly reenabled it after getting a virus infection.
Yes, I use it.
