There's a promotion by Sega going on Today where you can get three games for free if you register an email address with the service. The three games are Gunstar Heroes (an amazing side scroller shoot 'em up from the 16 bit game console era, Viking: Battle for Asgard (I don't know anything about this), and Renegade Ops.... which is the real reason I'm making a journal post about this.

Renegade Ops is a deliriously fun twin-stick shooter game (which means you really need a controller to play) where you drive a car around and shoot all kinds of destructive weaponry around at the hordes of enemies spread throughout the map. The visuals are lush, the car physics are great, and the storytelling is loud and obnoxious in a cross between 1980's GIJOE and a comic book version of Rambo. Even better is the fact that you can play as a number of different character vehicles so there's a lot of variety, and then you can play the game with up to four people cooperatively.

I had a ball playing Renegade Ops and I think it'd be worth creating a bogus email account to register for this game alone. Give it a try and I'll bet you'll find it was worth your time.
