yeah that is kind of irritating, thats why a lot of people make it a rule not to do that

People usually have the rule that if you back out you cannot bid anymore on any future YCH. May be harsh, but it's to get people to start TALKING instead of hiding and running away. Discussing something with an artist instead of potentially fucking up an auction being a coward will net you more points and people may be more willing to help you out. If you just back out and run away, no one will trust what you have to do anymore if they know it's you and will be less likely to let you buy from them in the future. Be friggen honest people.

Yeah with yours you now have to scramble to fill a spot someone left. The best time to get that stuff is when the hype is starting and no one's seen it yet and that's been screwed up.

I can think of a few reasons like if someone auto bought a slot and they don't like there character or an expense suddenly came up and couldn't afford the spot.

Honestly I say those but there still not very good reasons.

Money issues is understandable, but I rather people come to me and tell me if they have issue, then just hide away. And not telling me.
I'm not a popular artist like high level artist. Who get their YCH auto bought in the first day.
I more often then not just get the starting bid and maybe a a slight outbidding there and there, but nothing too serious.
But when you bid on a spot that people don't want to outbid you then disappear just the day before the day the end, leaving me with a empty with less time to fill in.

How about doing the bidding on a separate page or document where they can't hide comments? That way they'll have to talk to you if for X reason they need to back off.

It's happened to me once that I ran overdrawn on my account. But! I contacted each artist I had a pending with before editing any of my comments!

They were all fantastic about it all ^_^

That the thing, just taking the step to contact the artist can go a long way.
