Just a place for me to post all my thoughts :3 if you want to know more about me I guess it's one place to look!
Hey boys and girls, it's time for another journal about random things I want to share with you! Today I just wanted to share a really good and really interesting pair of albums with you. I think I've mentioned before that I really like stupid mashups, but these here take the concept of mashing up the worst and most overdone and irritating songs and does an amazing job at making them sound great. There are tracks in here that will make you laugh, some that will make you angry that such songs are together, ones that will amaze you with the idea or samples used, and ones that could very easily be their own songs.
So I present to you, Neil Cicierega's (yes tha guy who did Potter Puppet Pals and was also in Lemon Demon) two gloriously unique albums, Mouth Sounds and Mouth Silence.
If you don't want to listen to both of them all in one go, I'll highlight some particularly interesting tracks you guys might like. Also these albums are totally free to download!
And by "some" I mean "most of". Whoops.
Modest Mouth
Mouth Sounds is basically an album of the whole "Hey you know that song from the intro sequence of Shrek? Let's shove it in everyone's face until it becomes annoying, but somehow in a way that's endearing and makes people chuckle" thing that's been going around on the internet for ages. This song is an example of a particularly well-done mashup though, because if you haven't heard either song before you probably wouldn't notice anything is wrong.
Vivid Memories Turn to Fantasies
He basically remixed that song from Men In Black. It's really good. It's one of those ones that holds up by itself as a relly good song. I'd love to dance to this at a club.
Imagine All Star People
The most delicious blasphemy. It makes you think "I freaking hate you" as soon as you listen to it. I love it.
Melt Everyone
Another good remix/mashup, this time some sort of weird electronic remix of Santana's Smooth. I really like it, it's just weird and an interesting remix of a song into a completely different style. Also more Smash Mouth just to annoy you.
Goodbye
This is the intro track to Mouth Silence and...there's something about it that lets you know you're in for an experience. Like listening to Semi-Charmed Life on LSD.

HE MASHED UP LOVE ROLLERCOASTER WITH GOD DAMN NINE INCH NAILS AND MADE IT WORK.
Furries
It's obligatory that I post this one, eh? :P The beautiful blasphemy of combining MMM-Bop and Jimi Hendrix in a way that totally works, and then adding in news clips about furries, samples from What Does the Fox Say and editing the lyrics so Jimi sings about kissing a fox. You're welcome.
Best
This is literally a mashup of lots of different songs involving the word "best" in it. It's amazing. It samples a commercial for Folgers coffee and the theme from TaleSpin and Carmen Sandiego. But it's still amazing.
Pokémon
News reports about Pokémon layed over I Want You Back. It sounds like it's the intro to a documentary about how Pokémon has changed the world and influenced generations of children.
Crocodile Chop
More of a straight-up stupid mashup that irritates people becase of how well it works. One of those ones that immediately makes people think "OH MY GOD WHY OR HOW DID YOU THINK OF THIS". It's Crocodile Rock and Chop Suey!. He made it work. God damn it. How.
Numbers
This is one of those songs that has so much going on that it almost feels like it stops being a mashup. The theme is phone calls and numbers. It's just so impressive how many random things are in this. (Like that goddamn Nokia ringtone of all things!) Yes please.
Space Monkey Mafia
It's like an...electro-polka?...version of It's The End Of The World and We Didn't Start the Fire AT THE SAME TIME. It's amazing especially because you then realise how similar the songs are. This is one of those songs that'd be amazing to see people do live, like some sort of karaoke-off. Gosh.
Piss
Semi-Charmed Life mixed with Tubthumping and Rock Your Body, but with the lyrics edited so that lines like "He sings the songs that reminds him of the piss he drinks" and "The place where I fell asleep inside my nose". Despite how dumb all of these things are, it's still a good song. Dude's got talent.
