I guess I'll make a journal about Zootopia.

General
So, I went to see Zootopia today and it's probably just the definition of 'good' and nothing else to me. The plot was pretty predictable and by the numbers, even the big twist I saw coming from a mile away, but besides that there is a lot to like about this movie. The characters were all strong, well-written and the character designs were all very appealing, cutesy and such. The element that I liked the most about this film were the size differences with the animals, which would co-exist with the design of the city, showing how everything works in everyday life. The comedy is pretty sharp in this film too, but there was nothing that had me laughing out loud, more or less just chuckling most of the way through. The social commentary is great as well, and it's message. I walked out with a smile, a good feeling after I was finished with my viewing.
Zootopia is a good film, it takes a few risks, but not a lot, it's not amazing. For what it is, I did enjoy it though, I give Zootopia a 7.5/10

The story isn't exactly the strength of this movie. It's basic, but passable. The strengths are with the characters and the humor. The designs are pretty well thought out too in my opinion.

The trailers definitely looked about 7.5/10 material. Would you recommend seeing it in theatres, though? I was just going to rent it from Redbox when it comes out on DVD.

Hrrm, well it couldn't hurt to wait to go and rent it. I'm not sure if I could recommend going to see it in theaters though. It's good, better than I expected, but it's not stellar. If you're looking for just a nice animated film that's well rounded throughout most of it and nothing more, then I recommend seeing it in theaters.
