Time for me to get kicked out of furry! :0

I am indifferent to Zootopia. It does absolutely nothing for me. Typical talking animal movie with typical message. :I
Come at me, I guess.
Come at me, I guess.

I can't comment on his experiences, but I know for me, having seen a LOT of movies over the years, most movies are painfully predictable and cliche. I tend not to find a movie enjoyable simply because of one feature - but because of the whole thing. I enjoyed Deadpool, for example, because it may be the first superhero movie that actually does a good job of being a 'comic on screen' and because I've been following it for years and knew that Ryan Reynolds is a huge Deadpool fan - and it shows - you just GET that he wants this to really be Deadpool.
For me, most Disney movies have recurring problems (not saying Zootopia has them - I've not seen it yet): overuse of musical pieces, even when they literally make no sense and break up the narrative, antiquated morals and yet at the same time, a penchant towards political correctness, very strange view of women and ethnic groups and when they're outright doing classic literature - they tend to butcher the story in strange.. strange.. ways.
Case in point: Disney's Hercules. Let's recap his 'story' in the movie. He's a child of two 'alien god-like beings' who is sent to Earth to avoid a danger. He is found as a baby by a farm couple and is adopted and raised to be good. As he grows older, he realises that his abilities are far beyond normal people and seeks out why he's different only to discover he's not really a human. He sets out for the big city to find his destiny and meets a strong-willed, independent woman with whom he falls in love. He then has to deal with a villain and regular attacks.
Sound familiar? It should - because it's not Hercules. That's Superman.
That's not to say all Disney movies are bad - Lilo and Stitch is surprisingly well written and is a good solid story. Tron:Revolution (the TV series) was brilliant. But enough of Disney's work is so bizarrely derivative and often just.. bizarre, that I tend to assume the worst until shown to be wrong with their movies.
The fact that a lot of people *like* Zootopia doesn't influence me at all. A lot of people like a lot of really bad things (Trump anyone? Fox News?) I know I'm already having some apprehension over some of the details I've heard about the storyline. I'm sure the animation will be good and the characters cliche stereotypes and 90% of furry fandom will either be cosplaying characters or doing Rule 34 of them within the next month.
And guess what?
That's ok. It's EXACTLY as ok as Wolfie not being blown away by it. It's EXACTLY as ok as my being apprehensive about it. We're all different - we all have different buttons that get pushed by different things. Diversity is good.
So, no - one size does not fit all. :)
How exactly is that 'untypical' (actually the word you want is 'atypical' but hey). That's been a recurring theme in Disney movies since the 1950s. It's a pretty common theme in most kids movies today.
Or what was the message YOU took away from it?
Welcome to the world of Hype Backlash!
Prepare your flame shield, mighty wolf rebel!
But seriously, it's okay that you just found the movie as "meh". Not everyone's gonna love it for what it is. At least you're not acting belligerent about it. ^^
I haven't seen the movie yet, so I can't give it a final verdict. x3
Have you seen "The Boy and the Beast"?
And I have yet to see Boy and the Beast. :0
