Adoptable should NOT be rentals. period
So recently i've read from a few friends of mine that some artists (will not name names) are starting to add parts to their TOS stating that if they don't agree to the way you're using the characters that you have purchased from them that they can take them back without giving you a refund. I personally find this unacceptable. If you sell a character to someone then for all intents and purposes that character belongs to the buyer to do with as they wish, within reason, meaning you have handed over all rights to the characters use. No that doesnt mean i support people who outright over hall adopted characters completely but i do support what all adopt sellers support which is the freedom of use for the product that they create and sell. These are my lists of dos and donts for adopts as a collector.
DO:
*Give credit to the creator
*If resold sell for a price lower than what you purchased it for out of respect for the artist
*Only make small tweaks to designs ONLY IF NEEDED! i.e. hair or eye color or hair style ( or gender if the artist allows or if the gender has not been specified like in SFW refs where no genitalia is shown)
*Link the original artists page(s) to show them support when introducing the new character (at the very least)
DONTS:
*DO NOT RESELL FOR HIGHER THAN WHAT YOU BOUGHT IT FOR
*DO NOT "forget" to credit the original artist
*DO NOT completely change the character i.e. changing all fur color, markings, physical features, AND species
Back on the subject of the unacceptable artists who are making the claims i've stated before. Outright stating that you will "Repossess" a character if you do not like the way it is being used understand this. You are admitting to stealing money. Taking away a product that someone has paid for and has legal ownership through the purchase of is theft. Despite what you think, that will greatly hurt your credibility as an artist and overall is bad for business. If you don't like that cold fact then you might as well just stop selling adopts and stick to doing normal art.
So dear reader if you are one of those disgraceful humans who are outright claiming that they can steal your money by snatching back something that you have bought the rights to with your hard earned money. PLEASE feel free to leave a comment and ill be sure to block you and never purchase anything from you and make sure anyone i know does not either.

Fuck that shit sideways. :/ You can't call backsies on shit like that. You can essentialy "sell" a character for on high, then "reclaim" it saying you dislike their new usage, and repeat.
Shady fucking artists.
See, as a commissioner, I'm always scared about getting shafted or fucked up/over. I'm an honest guy, commissioner, and fan of artists. And it'd kill me to have an artist try to take back something I bought :c
Once you've sold the adopt, that's it. Unless the person wants to return it and one agrees to that,.
But to take back something one has taken money for and not return the money?
Idiots.
Honestly, you can never tell how a adopt is being used past FA. So how can one say it's not being used right anyways.
Ugh, greedy little........*takes a breath*
Idiots. -.-
