Noo it wasn't Zootopia. Will get to seeing it soon even though I know how it ends.
Im talking about that German cat movie.
Next to that watership bunny movie, I heard this movie had plenty of controversy over how people thought it was a kids movie. I suppose thats their fault for holding preconceived notions about how animated movies are only for kids.
Felidae is one of those once in a lifetime movies. I found out this movie was and still to this day the most expensive animated movie to come out of Germany at 10 million Marks at the time. Anyway a few minutes in, you get the feeling reminiscent of Don Bluth's Disney venture but soon, you start realizing the censors must of been sleep at the wheel.
Dont worry, I won't spoil it for you, but I will say that the movie is a murder mystery with a cast of colorful characters. I really liked Francis the lead cat, but personally, I found myself loving Bluebeard the most. Hes that rough and tumble alley cat that thinks with his gut sometime, but he isn't the traditional fat sidekick. I did have a soft spot for Felicity, but I should of kept my head in check with her. Anyway, I recommend giving Felidae a watch if you're into murder mysteries, grown up themes, and good animation...Oh yeah and talking street cats.
However I must warn that it has some really graphic scenes, and I found myself loving the chills it gave me.
Well thats another journal entry. Stay tuned for the next one where I give my two cents about monsters of the television variety.
