Ouch! I've never had a herniated back, but I did have a herniated groin, and that hurt like crazy! I can only imagine that a back is even worse! I hope you can get it fixed soon, and get to feeling better.

I think my hernia is a bit different from yours. °-°
Herniated dics means that one of the discs between the backbones tore open and a bit of the spinal marrow seeps out. That sounds more gruesome that it is, but the only thing it immediately does is putting pressure on my sciatic nerve and cause pain in back and legs.
The worse part is that due to the pain in my leg, I'm walking in a lopsided pose, and that again strains the muscles in my back, so that I basically get locked in that pose, and have to slowly learn to walk upright again.
If the herniation of the disc is bad enough, though, I might need some surgery to cut it out and fuse the adjacent backbones. ... Ahum. Let's hope it's just a minor thing. <.<
