I use contact adhesive for a lot of things aswell as bitumus pond adhesive.
If ya cant fix it at least theyll stick it to something LOL

Ive been using DEP Contact Cement for most of my fixes. Though, for bottoms of feets, Ive still be using Shoe Goo where I can.

Ive never really worked with Barge a whole lot. All I remember about it was the smell was a bit too much for me. How do you combat that?

Oh just apply the barge to both of the items you wish to glue together while sitting outside, leave it there in the shade for a few moments, after 5 minutes the smells gone, after 15 minutes its ready to bring together: Press the two parts together firmly, Bing! You can work with it lightly for the next 8 hours (like working on other parts), after that you can put it to full service!

Super easy to use, and Great results!!!!

I'd have suggested a gasmask perhaps? Though technically any BA needs to be supplied with air and forced in, rather than filtered. ;)

Contact adhesive is pretty pongy too in my experience, can't wait to see the results Stego :)

Oh! Dont get the I forgot to mention: DO NOT use the Blue-label Barge: That stuff is crap!! Yellow label barge is the only way to go!!

I was reading your zippered hood post and you mentioned Barge... and I thought, 'Barge Cement? That sounds... familiar...' I think my Dad use to used it to fix/seal the cork beds of his Birkenstock sandals.

Heh: Yeah: Apparently its the stuff shoemakers live by! Its too easy to use too... The Yellow-label stuff that is! Dont bother with the "Toluene-Free" Blue-Label stuff tho: That stuff is Crap!!

i just got some of the toluene free stuff yesterday and used it to repair some mascot feets. i wasn't happy with how it was bonding even though you said that stuff was great. so i finished the feet using good old fashioned contact cement by Dep.

Believe me I found out about this the hard way myself:

I had done 3 masks using the Yellow label barge, and then ran out. I went to the hardware store, and found the blue stuff. I asked them "Whats the difference?" They just said Barge is Barge. I then proceeded to do an entire hooded mask with the blue stuff, not thinking anything about it, and shipped it off. The recipient then informed me of the problem in that parts of seams were coming apart!!

It turns out the Toluene is needed to break down the surface of the rubber to allow it to stick: Which explains why the old Neoprene cement I used to use contained heavy amounts of the stuff.

Sorry about not telling you about this earlier, I just discovered the problem this past week myself! It bummed me out a bit as I couldnt figure out why the first 3 masks I did still had an awesome hold, while the one mask fell apart. Then I thought about it, and remembered what I did.

then is that in the contact cement i use as well? cause its holding fairly well thus far.

but yeah, ill keep an eye on the feets i repaired with the blue barge stuffs...
