I know that I was in the camp that was really cheering you on in trying to find a drug that works for you... but I want to take a step back and make sure that I say that if a drug *doesn't* help, it's okay to stop taking it! Every SSRI they put me on made me more and more suicidal so I had to stop taking SSRIs altogether. I also reacted very badly to xanax and other benzos. I do have friends and family whose lives have been saved by drugs, so I am not anti-drug, but it is really important to acknowledge that certain drugs do make certain people worse...! (I reacted okay to an anxiety drug called buspar, and I hear that buspar + melatonin does wonders for some people... maybe something to ask your doc about??)
I also read somewhere that those of us on the autism spectrum often need a way, WAY lower dose of antidepressants than neurotypicals do. If you do decide to try another SSRI--which is reasonable, as some people respond better to different brands--you might try asking your psych to start you at half of the normal dose and only increase it later if necessary. Obviously your psychiatrist is a pro and you should take their advice over that of me or other random internet people, but! Just some thoughts for you.
ah, yes, I should have specified. You should definitely taper off any dosage of any psych meds. I went cold turkey off remeron, but I had only been taking it a week. When I tried to go cold turkey off elavil (a tricyclic) I had really terrible withdrawals, even tho' I was taking a very small dose!
Sorry to hear about all the troubles. I wish and pray you the best of luck.
Hope your new car treats you well.
Don't give up. 2012-2015 were some of the worst years of my life and I didn't think I was going to make it out. But I did. I'd like to think you can too.
If you want a hand job hunting, I'll be glad to help. Just drop me a note.
