5 pet peeves about artists

♦ G Y P S Y ♦ Top 5 pet peeves about artists:
1 - When they are so up themselves that they don't care about their fans.
2 - When all they care about is money. Money is nice, yes, but if you don't love what you do, it will show in your work.
3 - When they think they are better than all other artists. Just no. Unless you trace, we all draw differently, and that doesn't mean the differences are better or worse than the other, they are just different.
4 - When they can't take constructive criticism or critique. Especially if they ask for it? Like what.... This is advice to help you improve lol....
5 - When they put other artists down because they are not at the same level as them. ( bashing & hate comments, not critique.) Lol we all started with stick figures and wonky anatomy so calm yourself.
Before you comment please note that this is my opinion and is not directed toward ALL artists or a specific artist.
As an artist I admit I have been guilty of maybe one or two of these but I try my hardest to not be.

Like bruh, let someone draw how they want and you do your own thing. Don't be a huge pecker head.
Its perfectly fine. There are many other wonderful artists that dont charge as much, so its not a big deal if some charge more.
And lol... I havent seen any artist charge 300$ for a sketch and i REALLY hope that they actually said that their work takes 20 mins, because if not, you have no idea how long it takes for each artist to do their work.
Also, sketches (if they did take 20 mins) dont even usually take that long so theyre taking longer than usual, which means more effort.
We were all there at one point! We should work on supporting each other rather than putting each other down =)
It's sad when artists throw fits about all of this stuff...
Although I will admit I do stumble every once in a while. When I'm desperate to pay bills I kind of forget about my fans and only care about getting the money which is something I really shouldn't do.
I also remember going through college and thinking to myself "I'm better than most of these clowns", and since then I've felt sharing my knowledge and helping others get better at art is more important than being narcissistic about my own work.
I'm so glad that all artists aren't like this though!
Me too.
I've also had artists lie about what they want the money for, saying in a journal how much they need money for rent, then turn around and buy a character for hundreds of dollars and post a journal saying they bought it and how cute it is only a few hours later. =/
It really puts me off commissioning new artists when I can't trust the ones I've already commissioned.
Artists that are that full of themselves and use their popularity to just constantly make hate posts about other artists and how they work are just awful. This ones lucky they have good work or many would likely unfollow them because those journals/posts are so damn unpleasant. Dx
The person deleted every comment that called them out and it took an entire day of people mentioning it on the submission page before they added any kind of credit for it.
They didn't much appreciate it, tried to turn it around on me, of course.
But I returned the favor, that's what it's all about, right? Treat others how you wanna be treated. Always interesting to see how aggressive and offended people get when they poke at your supposed "flaws" and you poke right back. -_-
It's a hobby.
Spirit cat is a behavioral analyst for fun :P
The art classes I'm in now, no one wants to give constructive criticism and they can't for the life of them take it. Like what do you think is going to happen in the real world? People are going to rip you apart so learn to take it now. It's so frustrating v.v
