Getting all consternated (I learned that word from Calvin and Hobbes!) about AC again. Even if I do find somebody to fill my crappy shifts for the weekend, I've also got to find somewhere to stay. I don't think I'll be asking my friend at Pitt if I can sleep at his frat. Then there's the money, which is trickling in pretty slowly with this little job... And I can't shake the feeling that I'd just end up being overwhelmed by it all, be too shy to talk to anyone, just float around like a creeper like I usually do in those situations. Somebody convince me it's worth the effort?

I've never gone to a con, but from what I've heard from a number of past con-goers, unless you're an extremely outgoing person or you have a number of friends you're planning on meeting/rooming with at a con, it's just going to be an awkard experience for the most part.
I doubt you really want to end up being one of those people who just sits or stands in the background looking around pathetically while everyone else is doing their thing together. x_x
My advice is to just wait until there's another con you can plan better for and have the time off of work ready. Otherwise it just seems silly to me to bother wasting the resources and losing money from missing work for something that's just likely not going to be that rewarding. =P
