How do you make a static icon be in a GIF format, but not have the colors become speckled?

personaly I wish to know this too or if its just the low quality of a gif file that causes it...so sick of it myself XD

Seriously, I will never understand why they cannot just use a JPEG format and make it so much simpler then needing to figure out how to make a GIF file not look so choppy XD

.PNG seems to help with some of the speckling, not perfect, but better, so thank you for that ^^
