Not as immediate of a solution, but have you considered something like Patreon?

I am interested in VDay2016, if it is still available.

Patreon funders usually want constant material uploads and get impatient if the artist can't provide this. With DAQ's job hunting, it might not be the best option for him.

I'm not certain what you mean by this. I've supported quite a few artists with no problem. Some of them don't update frequently, others do. There really is no one way to go about it. There are always going to be people whom you cannot please. That doesn't mean it is a bad model, but yes, generally it helps to have content and a way to bring said content.

Either way, I'm certain that DAQ is better qualified to state what is a good option for himself than you are.

Well, you're different from the normal Patreon funder. I'm pretty much the same since I work on my own things and know that material for the patreons are not a quick as some would like to make. But I've seen plenty of people be rather impatient and get on the artist's case for lack of material. And there's also still a group issuing fake funding just to steal material from the patreons and post it on a site without actually paying anything.

I don't know if Patreon ever resolved this exploit this group has been doing, but as it stands I haven't heard anything saying it's been fixed.

Patreon and the leak site still battle over that, however there are some pretty simple ways that one can defeat leaks. Using the private message system instead of broadcasting content is very effective. Some users employ password protected zips or third party websites to verify users. These are all extra amount of work, and only as foolproof as the user base, however, there is very little broad-scale piracy going on for those creators, despite the existence of a dedicated leak site.
