Why do furries (or the general public for that matter) like dragons? Is it because of the fact that it's a giant reptile? That it can have special abilities like breathing fire and flying? Is it because a dragon is an animal that has no basis in reality and therefor you can create the design of the animal? Is it because the people who like dragons used to like dinosaurs (or still do) as a kid and it just kinda carried over as a fantastical dinosaur? Do people like dragons rather than dinos because of the loose interpretation?

I don't know exactly what spurred this but I was thinking about it just now.

Id say I like dragons because of the fantasy aspect and because you can basically make up the rules of what the creature looks like and does as you go along. Nothing is set in stone as to what a dragon does or looks like. Therefor, freedom of a blank slate.

I'd love to hear thoughts.
