The winner of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is...

Ukraine! The new voting structure, splitting it into jury vote and televote, made the voting even more exciting. I was quite on the edge of my seat. Australia led the field at the end of the jury voting, but was pipped to the post by the televotes. Still, second place for the second attempt, after a respectable fifth place on their debut last year, is very good.
Russia and Ukraine, understandably, didn't give each other any points at all. Russia threw a lot of money at their act, and though it was hot favourite to win, it was bumped into third place. There will be questions asked in the Kremlin, I'll bet -- Russia takes the ESC very seriously. Given that countries that don't like each other tend to not take part when it's held in enemy territory, I wonder if Russia will show up in 2017. If they didn't, it could be considered losing face, and I'm sure they wouldn't want that.
Anyway, now I'm off (rather late) to work.
1st - Ukraine
2nd - Australia
3rd - Russia

and yes a few where OK but the rest was just a run of the mill
(best part I just read is that Russia just said that they didn´t win because politics where involved
and that Jamala just won the Cold War, a win of the West against Russia.
Say said some more stuff but really it´s a freaking singing contest not a war more the opposide it should help the nations relate to each other and understand each other)
I wonder when we'll see Psy or Hatsune Miku during the contest...
I really wish that people outside the participating countries could vote, such as in a 'Rest of World' vote. I'd imagine the logistics would be diabolical, especially if many are watching via the Internet. I actually watched semi-final 2 and the final through the host broadcaster's webcast, as the main Eurovision site was down, and the quality was much higher.
*goes to look up Hatsune Miku*
And technically Israel's definitely not part of Europe, but they're only GMT +3, and have hosted twice (1979, 1999). 2012's contest in Baku was GMT +4, so definitely stretching it a bit for people staying awake to perform.
