FA does handle large images. Just post something and use “Change submission file” button. Well, in 2012 it didn't work with 5k×5k pictures but I guess it works now.

Yeah, I usually use that work around to some extent. I've just seen people complain about images that are quite a bit larger than the average monitor resolution and FA only offers a small preview and the full image. A lot of galleries have a step in between that fits the image to the browser viewport. Of course you can just click download to do that or use a script ( I wrote one to fit images with a key press ), but eh... playing it safe I guess. :p

Scripts are good but they're nothing when they work for you only. I like tumblr because it allows to run your own style and scripts for everyone (I'm allowed to cause lags on weak PCs, hooray!).
But yes, some people were complaining at my pictures too. One more reason why I moved back to DA.

I'm not a the biggest fan of FA either. I love the community, but the way it's run... it surprises me this place is still up and running. I've considered tumblr, but aside from custom profile pages I'm not a fan of the singular scrolling feed which makes it difficult to keep up with multiple artists. Throw in reblogs and it can get messy. I also agree with the issues you mentioned in your DA post on your tumblr. Deviantart... well I just don't see it as the best place for my art. I've been hoping for FurryNetwork to gain some traction, but things have been quieting down there. It still has some work to be done and it doesn't help the staff hasn't been all to active either (at least in public). So I don't see myself leaving here unless something happens to FA itself, but it certainly doesn't hurt to branch out.
