I have accounts on both SoFurry and Weasyl, but I don't post to either. Eventually I might start cross posting a bunch of stuff, but I prefer to keep myself fairly centered on just one site.

Just use facebook. Its 15% less awful than FN.

Fur Network is as vulnerable to hacking as any website. Fur Affinity is popular which paints a big target on its back. Facebook does have security problems of its own but at least its not in beta. New Fur Network users get to be crash test dummies for a new social site.

FN is heavily flash powered, meaning it doesn't work worth a damn on my laptop unless I like waiting 5 min for a page to fully open or lagging or otherwise irritating shit happening all the time.

It's not using Flash. As far as I can tell, it's using HTML5, but a lot of older equipment still seems to be having an issue (I get slowdowns occasionally, but rarely).
I think the issue right now is that there's a bunch of folks moving over from FA to FN at the same time, which bogs things down. It's also still in beta, so there's bound to be bumps. Regardless, I've been enjoying it so far. The more users it gets, the better I think it will be.

Facebook is the antithesis of personal privacy, and offers nothing in the way of services that I really feel interested in. I'm sure it's stable, and I certainly agree that whatever site is largest is going to paint the biggest target, but I'm liking the cut of FN's jib so far and want to give it a chance.
If nothing else, it will be another place I can go to check up on artists that prefer it to FA. People will always go where the art is, but with all the burned bridges that FA generates, having an account on the alternatives isn't such a bad idea.

Smart choice! Best to avoid that platform anyway. They are too anti privacy for me and I simply can't trust Mark Zuckerberg with my personal details. I'm leery about a profile that requires your real name and then asks for a copy of your ID to verify. No thanks. I like my relative anonymity. Much better for free speech.

I've got one foot in, and one foot out. I prefer to focus on one site at a time, but it's foolish to keep all my eggs in one basket.
