Depends if people rely on your money to live. if you can get by fine for a while without a job it's okay. if not then income has to take priority

As for him I think she works too because otherwise one of the days he needs the day off to watch his kid instead of paying someone to work the same amount he makes that day would be like working for free. But he's been planning on moving and quitting his job too. So yeah... Kinda gotten to the point he doesn't really care since it's either he gets fired or he talks to the manager or upper because of how ridiculous this has been and going on with it too. Because one of the things as a Assistant Manager or Manager is to help your employees. If they cannot work a day because of family or otherwise have them find someone who can cover for them or something. Just don't threaten to fire them because of Finals they cannot makeup or quit on just to work for a job that doesn't treat him well and is planning on firing him. Even if he is the fastest cashier is kinda a good thing to have.

When you need your job to survive, education is still rather important. Everything you said is a perfect example as to why education is so important. He is an adult with a family that is being controlled by a power hungry assistant manager. Using unfair business practices and trying to get as much work as he can out of what little pay is given out. His education will eventually save him and place him in the position to where he doesn't have to put up with such terrible people who threaten your whole livelihood.

I'm not sure she's power hungry just yet since she just started last month, but as for the following: Crazy, brainwashed, out of her mind, probably needs to learn the rules about life, about when it's really "needed" for her two cents, then that would be a yes. But since he can still get another job that treats him a bit more fairly and only downside of her thinking that his job was "more important" and he couldn't possibly get a better job that doesn't try and put on an act. Like you see from certain commercials yeah we're all happy and smiley and totally not actors and the real ones are dead inside. Which is one of the reasons why I want to get out of the job there too since it was fun for a while and now it's just gotten old of the same old song and dance they force us to do. But always remember some things you can never get back: Your family if you chose your job and lost the love and respect of them, because we know that never ends with a happy life. Your education that you paid so, so, so much for and have to either go back to scare one or try and scrounge up the remaining credits after being kicked out from there. Besides a few other things since the funny-ish thing I found about the guy is, him and his father had doctors that say they couldn't have children because of the narrow or whatever it is down there. Yet both of them tried and ha, look who has now has a kid with a bit of luck. (Yes he didn't like the doctors saying that it was impossible/nearly for him but he made it happen.)

Priorities just need to get straightened.

Certifications are always an option and are much much shorter than degree courses.

Yeppers, that and I'm not sure which one he's going for but I know it isn't his first year of college but might be going for a doctor since.... Well basically opening up and examining organs of donated bodies for science he's done. Which I find a bit odd to do, but also kinda neat to learn about. Still beats dissection on fetal pigs and frogs. Even if you could only do one and your partner for the project had to do the other to fair, but they've various parts and yes with gloves and such.

So he's going into the medical field?

As far as I know because if you do that sort of stuff, because if it was for anything else at school or with your classmates then I would be concerned where the body came from.

Sounds interesting. If he's going into the medical field, then he should take a job that places him in a hospital to work with people.

Yeppers, and also would be away from having to deal with retail jobs, for the most part that is.

Yeah, and most hospitals offer tuition reimbursement for employees in school for medical degrees.

then that is definitely a different story, if they're having someone bear down on them and being underpaid, i'm sure there's probably some more places that are friendlier and more appreciative

Yeppers, he knows that he isn't going let them keep doing this to him. Because if they do get their way they'll try little by little put more and more pressure down on a guy who barley gets enough sleep already. Yet he finds a way to find enough hours or some way to keep going on most days. But other than that one of my uncle's friends that I heard about today, he worked at The Onion Grove Bar And Grill before he started working at Casey's. They had to work around the other's schedule before hand. So he was working those two jobs for a while and then apparently one day he had to decide which he was going to work for because of: conflicts of interests. In other words they wanted him to work for Casey's more because of they pay more and it wasn't anything "personal" for the reason they wanted him to decide, because they both make pizzas and they say theirs is better than Onion Grove's. But that is a bit of bull plop since if they wanted to sell Casey's Pizza there anyone who went to get gas and pizza could of done it. They don't have to work at both places just do that and that can be for anyone who makes the same food as another place. But on a bit of a funny one they said, "If you want pizza that's better than Onion Grove's, give us a call." Then in response he said, "No, if YOU want better pizza that's better than Casey's, give us a call." Don't ask me which is better pizza, Casey's or a Bar and Grills. Frankly I don't really eat pizza too often. Yes I'm weird like that. But I've eaten a bit of it a few times before the sauce becomes a little bit too much for me.

being in a situation can break you down fairly quickly, depending on tolerance level, but at the end of it. if it's doing more harm than any good, it would be the most wise to look for opportunity elsewhere with the job section. if the employer can't understand the situation then there is an is something that needs to be worked out. you should not be forced to do something, it's employment not slavery.

as for the pizza place thing I think moonlighting for another company isn't necessarily a bad thing, I do know employers don't like you to do work in the same job field, ie. pizza places, but working at a burger joint is ok? lol

Yeah because of a bar and grill that makes it'w own pizzas too, serve fries, burgers and everything of the sort makes it like they sell gas, pop, and smokes too. It's not like you were working at a 7/11 too or Shell. Because who would think that they would have anything in common like Casey's. But yeah after a bit of dealing with people doing the same thing that their managers did to them as a sort of power play/revenge or whatever you wanna call it. Isn't exactly fun. It's not becoming the bigger person of being the boss, and not only doing your job too but being a ass isn't part of it. There's always a fine line between certain things. But managers just love to cross it when you don't do exactly down to the letter if they didn't teach you, listen to you, or try and help you in any way.
That or even prepare you for tings you need to learn or would be a good idea to get out of the way before it becomes a problem and have to learn it later. Because it's come down to very few people who just ticked me off at work. One of them was an old assistant manager and me and him just bucked heads whenever we were near each other. I didn't mind working with his sons but with him.... Nope.
Other one I already said about her and why I don't care of her, and one was the last manager since he was fine most of the time but kinda clashed when I thought needed to be done and was more important to get out of the way than what he thought. But yeah both either got another job and other got promoted to be a manager at another store. (Also sorry for the long posts, kinda get into a bit on certain topics sometimes. x3)

I've seen my share of management that don't know what they're doing, unfortunately it's a rather sad thing. so it's really a case of taking opportunity if it's bad enough to get away.

Pretty much, and find a better work place that pays more and something that you won't regret. Like my first job at a Graphics Art place before working where I'm at now... Downside with him, besides of not much to do was more so on my last strike. Gave my two weeks and... Well a bit of a prick when it came to... color. >-< He didn't even ask or thought if I had other family members that happened to be that. (Not going to repeat anything close to what he said but wasn't the N word. But was more towards of a kristallnacht reference he made, but with looting/riots.) I was down to the point of wanting to get physical because of how mad he made me. That and one of the other guys that was working there said something about two ex gay couple and had to use the word for smokes in the U.K. -_- Glad I quit when I did otherwise he'd want me to quit working at the better paying job and had helped a bit more around the holidays and were a bit more understanding. But yeah we tried to work around the Graphics art's schedule and they just put me on shifts when I had to work at my first jobs. So worked where I got paid more since a bit more worth at the end of the day.

Even was tempted a few times to tell him off, besides of the whole metaphor of whoever pulled the chain a bit more and comparing his job to something a bit more minor than Wal-Mart. Which is true, since everybody/mostly everyone knows what Wal-Mart is and can even switch stores. But with him, not so much even since I was getting paid not very much to being with even if I didn't work very many days since I was just a Janitor. But yeah, if I had to work with him even more hours I would get tired of him faster, even if he yelled/sang out loud the Let it Go song. x-x But yeps, a nice guy at first but turned out to be a prick in the end.
