fangcon is called a Widmanstätten pattern. It is what you get when you slice an iron meteorite and acid etch the surface. Quite beautiful, isn't it? I couldn't think of anything more appropriate. What do you think?

Cant believe I didn't figure it out. I have a etched piece of the Odessa Texas meteorite in a frame not
6 feet from my desk.
Very clever use of space related goodies.
I'm teaching myself blacksmithing, and I've been doing a LOT of reading on the subject... but I think
You don't have to use acid :P Copper sulfate will work in many cases, or iron(III) chloride solution. Why mention this? That's PC board etching solution and can be found at RadioShack, if they still even exist.
I've cut and etched a few pieces of meteorites this way.
