For my thoughts and a lot of plot spoilers click http://frenor.tumblr.com/post/14569.....m-a-hour-and-a
For those of you not wanting to click I'm just gonna say as long as you have a slight grasp on the lore behind Warcraft, and I do mean Warcraft: orcs and humans, ie the first game. Or on the first war as its called in WoW then your gonna have a good time. It does a lot of neat stuff and I was entertained. Being entertained may be a broad way of saying but but I liked it. It was however made for Warcraft fans, so if you know nothing about the background of the lore be prepared to have some questions leaving the theater.
Its lord the rings filtered through a rock metal albumn which in my opinion is what Warcraft always has been.

i had plans to see it regardless because of my indomitable love for warcraft lore (before mists of pandaria tho).
I appreciate the write up :'D
Of course your more than welcome for my late night post shower plot rundown!
Those are the reviews though, which only give you a very selective and biased view of the film. I never plan on watching it myself, since I have no interest in the franchise, but I hear the graphics are excellent. But that's kind of like saying your 1988 AMC "Eagle" is good because it has a nice paint job.
For myself, I was supremely disappointed with "Jurassic World" despite that movie being met with much appreciation. I wanted an intelligent, impactful movie with realistic and realized characters that would bring back the drama and thoughtfulness of the first movie while still having the tension, awe and excitement of the original film. Instead, it was a fairly generic monster film with unrealistic and uninspired characters (yes, Chris Pratt fits that description, I don't care how pretty he is, he's a shit actor), and relied on it's special effects to make it interesting.
It was a huge disappointment to me, but it was a huge success in theaters because mindless, flashy action is entertaining! I was dissapointed because I was a fan looking for something that satisfied my fanboy desire.
The comparison with "Jurassic Wold" was to show that no matter what they did, someone was bound to be dissapointed. "Warcraft" did a lot of satisfy hardcore fans (at the expense of leaving a lot of non-fans confused) and yet still did the Michael Bay thing of CGI and violence to satisfy the lowest-common-denominator (at the expense of fans who wanted something deeper).
I likely would have enjoyed it better had it not been called Warcraft nor used any of the characters names.
The movie had a good bit of fantastic sequences, and a good bit of bad sequences.
A few parts of the movie made me sick to my stomach because they existed.
Decent amount of unintentionally funny moments that helped me through the movie.
I was quite disappointed.
