What kinda irks me is that people, and I've confirmed this with a few people that I personally know, are afraid to just come out and say that they don't like it because they gender-swapped the cast. What outright pisses me off is how whenever someone does speak up and admit that they don't like the all-female cast replacing the male one (and the female receptionist replaced by a male), they immediately get labeled as a misogynist. But people don't even seem to know what the word means anymore! Being a misogynist means a person hates ALL women. But I'm far from hating all women. In fact, I generally like women. But in this day and age, free speech is being forcibly supressed more and more by way of labels and mob mentality to shut you up for DARING to have an opinion. Ten years ago, people wouldn't bat an eyelash if you said you didn't like an all female cast replacing an all male one.

But it's not just the fact that a classic movie, that does not IMHO require any remake, is being butchered like this. But also the fact that whatever humor they intended for this movie, Just. Isn't. Funny. I saw all the trailers, and all I see is slapstick that felt totally out of place from the brand of humor shown in the original. My only addition is that I do admit to not liking the concept of a female cast replacing the male cast. Nevermind them adding a subtitle to distinguish it from the original. Now I gotta say 1984 or 2016 when referring to which Ghostbusters film I mention. This was a movie nobody asked for and I can betcha any money that the box office numbers will prove it. But hey, if by chance I'm wrong...then I'm wrong. But my own opinion still stands. Bottom line: While I would've loved there to be a new Ghostbusters movie, this one is far from what I had in mind. Hell, I'd go see it if they had at least brought in a new cast to replace the original (much like Star Trek). But all this is is taking a classic and slapping female faces (and a male) on the cast, using a poor brand of humor, and tinkering with a classic that did not need this.

Oh absolutely agreed, and the lack of subtitle is really getting out of hand, as with Robocop, final destination, Fast and furious, poltergeist,the thing,.. the list goes on. I've seen a few of the new trailers myself. The international one, at least felt put together a little better than our trailer editors. I almost wonder if it's the same people after Batman vs superman's first trailer. :p I've seen James' video before, and it was amazing, he was so well reasoned and calm, and the poor guy just got attacked with that stupid label.

I don't think the Characters have been Genderswapped exactly. From what I've seen, none of the ladies act like the originals played by men. There might be one who reminds me of Ray but there's no one who is as Introverted as Egon.

As far as being labeled a misogynist goes, there are definitely those who fit the bill. There's also been racial slurs directed to Jones on twitter, and worst shit than that. The problem is that the media as taken all those who are opposed to the remake and put them all in the same category.

As far as I'm concerned, they are as good as. Whether they are similar to the originals or not, they've been put in to replace the originals in the same context as the original movie. It would be like putting in all new characters to replace the cast of Star Trek with someone other than Kirk, Spock, McCoy, etc on the same Enterprise...or worse yet, genderswapping them...or worse still, replacing Uhura with a white woman for the communications or a half Romulan in place of the half Vulcan Spock. You get the idea. Some formulas just shouldn't be messed with IMHO.

There's been a shitstorm surrounding this movie for the last two years. Unfortunately it's brought out the absolute worst in some "Fans". From personal attacks toward the Director, Paul Feig , and the cast. Some have even trolled sick kids when the remake cast visited a children's hospital. Seriously, who the hell does that? Lets not forget the ever present "My Childhood is Ruined" BS I've read all too often. When someone who is against the remake presents an argument as an adult it's a breath of fresh air.

There has been some good to come out of all this. Ecto Coolers are back, if you live in the US. There's a lot of new merchendice, and just recently there's been a new Guinness world record made:

As much as I was , and to a degree still am, not happy with Ghostbusters being remade I'm willing to see the movie first before I express my dislike. Even with films like Total Recall and Robocop there have been a few things about them that I liked. I don't expect the movie to be as good as the original but if it turns out to be a good popcorn movie I'll be satisfied with that. Who knows? Maybe if the remake is successful it'll spawn new projects. I hear they are planning an animated movie.

Oh yes, I am enjoying the hell out of the new classic Merch, I picked up the four walmart exclusive figures from Walmart. It was so cool, while the likenesses are varying success, the jump suits are more a light grey than the tanish Khaki color I'm used to, and they used the 30th anniversary figures which are primarily modeled from the GB2 figures. The tube is clear, their boots have zippers in the sculpt, and the proton wands are angled rather than vertical. But they're a nice manageable six inch scale and fit on the shelf nicely. oh and when collecting all four you get a glow in the dark 3-D no ghosts logo!

Because I'm from Canada I probably won't see them at walmart anytime soon. I've Ordered Egon (and hopefully Ray and Winston later) to complete my Matty figure collection. I have Peter and the rookie.

I was lucky, I got mine before the market was flooded by sellers trying to sell their stuff for outlandish prices. Same goes with the other figures in my collection.

You and me both. I managed to obtain three for myself and a couple of Friends from a fellow fan across the boarder. You can by the regular twinkies at certain gas stations but I haven't seen the lime ones anywhere.

They should have known a lot of people would want them...
