A few words on a touchy subject...

As most of us know, a few days ago there was a terrorist attack in Florida. However, I've never seen such a large variety in which the ways it is talked about and coped with. The fact that it was done by an individual who was a Muslim radical extremist, who killed people at a gay bar has lead to so many different conclusions, it's hard to find a place to start.
So I'll start here...
This has been recorded as the worst shooting spree in the US. However, lots of news outlets I've seen would only call it a shooting spree, and not a terrorist incident like the guy who committed the massacre itself claimed it was only moments before he did it. I don't see the point of trying to play down people's ideals and motivations if they've done something wrong, as many would agree, no idea is above criticism.
Well, the reason I'm writing this on FA and not some other forum site instead is because I feel the most affected audience is right here. Being that the shooting was at a gay bar, I've seen lots of art coming out on here as a way to inspire each other or help one another cope with this event; to the point that it seems (to me at least) that many homosexuals are even starting to fear some sort of persecution because of this event, and are intending to spread a positive message to their community. Though I find this whole movement to be of little value, as this one incident won't have any real affect on the current standings of gays within the US, at least from the way I see it.
This is where it ticks me off though, that people only see it as an attack on gays, and not an attack on American citizens as well. It's not like the gay militia is going to declare war on ISIS, or that all of the victims were even homosexuals. Though the attack itself was done by a US citizen, it was still done in the name of a foreign power, and I believe that those who take credit for it should be held responsible, and that the way to react isn't to spam rainbows (not like that'll stop -_-), but to discuss how to eliminate this threat so that it can't repeat, like how an attack in a larger scale, but just like this, happened in Paris not long ago.
Overall, what I'm trying to say is: gays don't need to fear more than anyone else, we should probably start doing something about ISIS, and we shouldn't place blame on anyone other than those who did it, or refrain from blaming those who did.
It also couldn't have hurt if some of the people in that bar were conceal-carrying, it's legal in Florida after all.

I agree that the US should be taking action against ISIS. There are over fifty US citizens dead because of this. But no, the Obama administration seems heart set on ignoring the real threat and instead going to war against the second amendment... like always. It's kind of weird how we allow concealed carry down here, but we're one of the few states that completely outlaws open carry. But yeah, screaming about it and waving flags isn't going to do much to help the situation.

OP
It's just amazing today how politicians will actually go and allow people to die like this, then use it as a political push for their own views. It's just so frustrating. Sometimes I wonder if I should go into politics to try to do something myself, but unfortunately I have only 2 Charisma and 3 Luck :P. Not to mention you have to have a large amount of cash to even think about running for congress or anything...

Yeah, modern politics are fucked. All they ever do anything for is themselves, and parties make doing the smallest things a struggle.
