The Death of Traditional Media.

This gallery is now closed. I will be deleting everything within the next week. Sorry.
This has been something that bothered me for a long time; it is not, in any way, a slam against the amazing digital artists that abound on the internet. Please, do not interpret it that way.
But.
Whatever happened to hours of toil upon one canvas--one tiny square of paper? What happened to a single droplet of paint or a smudged line 'making or breaking' three days worth of work? People have forgotten how magnificent mundane mediums are.
True, not everyone can use Photoshop, Painter, or Corel with the same adeptness. However, it seems cheapening to the Artist that does all their work by hand.. That a single button and go back and remove one earth-shattering mistake. Likewise, I have much greater respect for the woman that spends her day covered in glazes and clay, than the man sitting at his computer, running a fake pen over a piece of electronic equipment.
Disney started the trend, I believe, when they declared all of their movies would be created digitally. A heart-breaking realization. But do we, as artists, really have to take on the 'adapt to survive' mentality when it comes to our art, for recognition?

Digital has not taken anyone away from traditional medial.
It's just allows many people who suck at traditional (like me) to actually create art.
Good times. (sigh)
While i understand your point I don't entirely agree with it.
I will freely admit my digital art had almost completely replaced the traditional (except for tattooing).
And the work I did in traditional art made the jump to digital easier.
I agree. Few digital pics have the soul of some paintings.
Though to support your opinion, I personally prefer to use a pencil and paper. It allows me much more control over what I do, and it's much less of a hassle because all you need is some cheap materials.
I hope, once I have more time to practice and hone my latent skill, I will get back into doing more traditional art. At the moment, I'm not really doing much of either traditional or digital.
I think, along with art, other things have been lost with the advance of technology - we no longer look to books for reference, instead we just search on google or wikipedia if we need to know something.
