Seriously tho, as long as she can keep to the 8 1/2 X 11 size, and good scanner will do. You can get then fairly in expensively at most Office Depots or Best Buy or wherever. I do not have an especially high end one, and it does well for me.

Hah! I know plenty of people who do love HP stuff. I've just not been as fortunate in my HP experiences. I did have a Canon printer/scanner that I was pretty satisfied with, but I've heard great things about Brothers products and have been tempted to pick one of those up.

Myself, I have a Canon printer/scanner, but the printer died before the scanner did (though that could have been from a tiny kitten curiously putting its paws inside the paper feed, but who knows), and it's a super noisy little beast. It's old though, I can't speak for newer models. Great scans though! It has a '1-Click' auto scan mode, or you can go into scanner driver mode to adjust the settings.

I also have an HP printer that operates via WiFi and I love it for printing. If they have a printer/scanner combo, I'd actually be game to try it when my scanner dies.

I had good luck and results with my Canon machine, so I think I may try one of those again. Thank you for your input, corgi!

I have an Epson (WorkForce WF3620) Works just fine for scanning, and it makes nice prints. Not like, professional print shop quality since actual printers for that are very expensive, but they're nice enough to hand around if you print a photo :> Best flatbeds I've seen for art without getting too expensive are probably the Canon LiDE 220 or Epson V37/V330

I have a canon scanner as well that I've had forever that I still love, I think it's a Canon LiDE...? I got it for like $60 bucks from Amazon?

I ended up going with an Epson printer/scanner. So far, so good!
