I've always thought about how many animals there are on earth, and how the furry fandom really only pays attention to vertebrates (fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals).

How cool would it be to see some mollusk characters? Or perhaps some anthro coral? I was just looking up what classifies as an animal (in the technical terms), and found out that corals and sea anemone ARE animals. Super weird to think about.

(Yes I know there are people in the fandom with anthro cars, but the main attraction is usually anthropomorphic animals, so it's fun to think of how far that idea can extend).

Really everyone should just have squid characters. Squids are the shit.

you know i've considered this, especially since i want to design an octopus 'sona for my roomie... i've yet to figure out exactly how i want to do that, though! and i'm still not 100% sure they'd sell so i'd hate to put in a ton of effort and get no response for them.
i might do a couple. i love me some cephalopods, crustaceans, and arachnids, especially!

Adoptables seem so hard to sell? Really depends on how eye-catching the images are from the thumbnail, I guess. I've seen so many neat adopts that just weren't advertised well.

It seems to also depend on who's selling them too, I think. I have a hard time selling adopts but I've seen others not have much problem...and at first I thought maybe it was my designs, but then I was like...nah, I don't think that's it, 'cos I've seen generic as anything designs sell... It's just, the bigger the audience, the more people who will see it. And I think people who do them regularly might also end up getting more of a fanbase that specifically likes adopts...

Or a bacterial colony? Or a single cell?

Offtopic: Is there a name/fandom for people who see themselves as a construct made by collaborative effort of many thousand homonuculi? For all my childhood I thought I was the only one on this planet who had this kind of fantasy, and then last year I saw Inside Out and I cried like a borne again christian being baptized. Squeak.
