On June 23rd 2016 the British people (51.9%) voted to leave the European Union.
I am over joyed at the result because it means we get to control our own country again but I am concerned for those who wished to stay. Ihope that through the negotiations we will be able to satisfy those who wished to stay.

Even if by some chance there was a second vote on the issue it wouldn't make a difference, the EU has already told us British to pack our bags and go now before they do it for us according to their own terms, you think they've been nasty towards us before just wait until we start dragging our feet. Trust is gone now and it wont be coming back for a long time, and I mean a long time. The youth who voted in the majority to remain in the Union will be on their deathbeds before Britain will even be allowed to reapply for membership and even then the request to join will be subject to European consent which makes it even less likely to succeed.
And all this is of course assuming the pettiness of western European right-wingers hasn't fractured the continent into 28-odd mutually distrustful dwarf states all receiving the competing "affection" of certain other foreign powers. I say western European because it is only in the western regions of Europe where after WW2 an entire generation of people has gone from birth to old age knowing peace and democracy as the rule rather than the exception, the first and so far only generation in the continent's history so blessed, and only in western Europe are political demagogues petitioning for their own departure referendums. While on the other side of the former Iron Curtain where people have experienced a different and more oppressive way of life they seem to enjoy being part of a united community of democratic nations, apparently they see some value in it all that we in the west have missed.
68% is a lot - almost 7 out of 10.
Besides my point is that not ALL of Scotland wanted to stay with the EU, less then half stated that.
Pretty sure it would also screw up the value of the pound even further.
My head says let you guys go but my heart wishes for you guys to stay. But as a passionately cultural person I believe I want you to stay more so.
Besides, if you do go then you ruin Scotland's biggest and most influential invention; the United Kingdom, invented by your King James VII. I don't call myself English becuase the British have achieved far greater things, things that were only possible because Scotland made it possible. Through the UK Scotland achieved great things and will do so again.
