10 years with the furry fandom?
It might not look like it, especially if you check my FA account, but I've been part of this fandom for a long time now. My memory isn't the best, but I do believe that I first joined the fandom either June or July of 2006 when my military service ended. That was a long time ago.
I guess my story with the furry fandom started before I knew what the term "furry" was and I was roleplaying on a website that allowed anything. At first I only played dragons for the longest time, but made my own chat room on this site and called it the Anthro Village, which is medieval in setting. Kind of a safe haven for anthro characters away from humans and other races. Just storyline based stuff. That was back when I was in highschool, though, and that site was very demanding in the quality and quantity of its rping. I stopped rping for a very long time, mostly due to being busy with service and just not having the time or will to continue it. Now all of those past characters are all shelved and I have a much more limited cast that I play with. Near the end of my service I made n account on a website called Yiffstar where I used the chat as my main rping area, which was fun. I was on and off of that, but I do remember being really upset about them changing the name to SoFurry and felt that it was done in reference to the Dark Knight movie that came out and the Joker's tagline going around everywhere as "So Serious". I honestly don't remember why I made a FurAffinity account, maybe it was so that I could see picture links, I don't know. It wasn't until I moved to West Virginia that I started actually participating in the furry community, starting with writing my own story series based off of a Sex Fighting based Role Playing system called Lands of Luste. I wrote this in my off hours when I was working for a local gas station called SpeedWay. It wasn't until I started working for Ticketmaster that I made the bold offer to write free works for people and a lot of people jumped on it. It gave me a lot of good practice and I'm happy that I did it. A few months later I was making a commission price list and people were contacting me about doing work for them. Now I write full time almost exclusively for the furry community, though when other people outside of these websites contact me I absolutely jump on it. I've had twists and turns, bends and falls, but all of those have made me a better writer and better commissionee. I've learned the hard way that client satisfaction is the most important thing, even more important than reputation AND my opinions for a story.
For those that have stuck with me all this time, I want to thank you. For those that have left and come back, I want to thank you too. It's been quite a wild 10 years from role player to full time writer. I still do love rping though, so if you want to feel free to contact me and we'll see if we can hook things up. For everyone else, I hope to one day work for you and I appreciate the support, faves, and watches.

Surprising how time flies, eh? My account keeps telling me its been 5 years but I hardly believe it.

OP
Yeah, it honestly feels like I just started writing the other day, but it really has been years. I don't regret it at all either. I've met a lot of really great furries out there, one of the reasons I'm so dedicated in supporting the community.

I hit the ten year mark myself mid-May, bud. Believe me, it's shocking at first, but you push through it.
