Yea e621 is basically a place where negative is freely roaming around to make up such things or just use old history as new material

It's like if the character is known to be a certain gender, even if the pic doesn't show it, shouldn't it be tagged with the CORRECT gender instead of what you can see?

As an example romanthony mad a journal about it earlier on how it happens to her character Ruby Doulton all the time. Her char is a herm BUT if both genitals aren't visible she's tagged as a dickgirl and that's just stupid if you know the character

I think it should have both tags. After all, as far as I'm aware, those sites are just places people go to find art to fap to; if a character could pass as a dickgirl, and someone wants to get off to a dickgirl and not a herm, I think you could make a good argument for having that tag.

Of course, the owner of the character in that situation has good reason to be upset about that. I'm not entirely sure where I stand on the issue, but I certainly always felt that e621 and other sites were very much user-oriented rather than artist-oriented, and that's why they're useful to people.

I fail to see how. If you know the character and want to find them, then run a search for the character tag--Without the Tag What You see rule, we'd have people slinging insults over "Falsely" tagged artwork, yelling at artists that it's obviously a female and other such stuff. I understand that that sort of system isn't for everybody, and so I'm fine that some artists have requested to not end up there, but the rule itself is to prevent negativity aimed at the artists.

I'll be one to say I'll ask before I use and because I'm a watcher here, I do get most reference posts from FA. This being said, I try to only use reference pictures for F-list for a maximum of two weeks, depending on work, before getting a commission done so I could correctly post pictures that were accurate.

don't have a problem with people using my art as references on f-list if they state it as such, but the majority I've come across not only use the art, they claim to be the owner of the character too.

I just.. couldn't do that. After attempting to do art myself, I realize and understand that it is a lot of hard work that's involved, let alone the personality you put into a character

I have heard of similar stories with artists. After reading your Tumblr page I tend to agree both in your reactions/actions and that it may be a bit aggressive. There will always be those out there who would not care what efforts went into an image and one must accept they would be a part of the 'unlocking' of images.

As for the age concern if they want to see adult content they will see it. The responsibility for the artist to to make the appropriate limitations if a site has them to the flagged content. Once you have made reasonable efforts you are fine. I agree it's not ideal that those who shouldn't see the content do, but we cannot control this. Parents should be on top of the monitoring of their kids. Flag your artwork as adult content, that is the best you can do on your end.

People will be people no matter what you wish them to do despite what harm it could do to others and in what ways. One must deal with this as no site is immune to this. We all do feel you, the ones who appreciate that this isn't some harmless game, and do support your choices. Do your best to rein in these situations as they pop up but also balance that with getting your content out there to promote yourself. Most ideal recommendation is what a few artists I know try to do and that's putting a clear tag somewhere with your easy to find handle and year of creation. No one can crop it out easily that way and if someone takes the art then its free promotion (albeit unexpected and unwanted) as well as ensuring your existing fan base will catch things for you. This also limits what a thief can do with it as they cannot readily hide the fact, and the facade would be broken within a brief exchange.

You know, the whole uploading of Patreon content thing is actually against the rules on e6. They specifically state that any paid content that's not older than two years old is to be immediately removed, and the mods are generally pretty good about enforcing that. It's more an issue of the person/people who took it upon themselves to upload said content.

I wouldn't blame the site, but the idiot users, for what has been happening to you so far.

the mods were very good yes, and I don't blame the site, but you won't get anywhere chasing down individual users, especially when its any site that has the 'anonymous imageboard' mentality.

Unfortunately there isn't much you're able to do in this case, except to either blame the community for allowing stuff like this to happen in the first place, or to go to the drastic lengths you described on tumblr. It's one of the darker sides of the fandom that nobody really appreciates, but has to deal with quite often.

I understand where you're coming from regarding the whole situation, it's just that it seems like it's a moot point in the long run. No matter what lengths you go to, nothing will stop people from "pirating" content that's available online. It's either try be proactive about it, constantly dealing with individual issues as they come up, or to accept the problem and try to encourage people to respect your content for what it is.

I'd rather have a positive presence on e6, or other imageboard sites, versus trying to constantly fight against the community. On said imageboards, I've come across several cases where users will point out that content was stolen and defend the original artist. Having a voice on said site has a surprisingly huge impact.

Since it's a community tagging system, it can be quite a mess sometimes. That's why I personally take it upon myself to fix errors that I come across while browsing. If everyone took the time to do that, the site wouldn't be as bad off.

The worst user tagging is when people stretch the definition of fetishes. For example, the "big_breasts" tag is full of chests that are distinctly not "big." What's even the point of the tag, then?

One of the ones I found that made my head explode was a picture of a jellyfish stinging a fish to death. Not even furry or adult, just regular art. Full of tags like "pussy" "big breasts" "anthro" "sex" "female" etc. To this day, I still can't even.

That one at least sounds like a joke... I take umbrage with the ones that just seem to flagrantly not understand the tags. And I imagine they don't get removed because nobody wants to be that guy who says someone's boobs aren't big enough for the "big_breasts" tag, or there aren't enough juices for an "excessive_cum" tag, or they're not big enough for the "hyper" tag, or any of the other tags along those lines.

e621 was a good site to, sort of "advertise" your art for other users to find and follow, but the userbase there has gone down the toilet.

Personally I don't mind E621 all that much. Sure the website is readily available to anybody who wants to see the content, but it does give many options for the artist/character owners, such as editing the stuff themselves and putting the reason as you being the character owner and linking to your FA. All in all, I think E621 is doing A LOT of things right, and I personally don't mind if my character is posted on there at all. I've filed tons of takedowns on my commissioned art, and it has never been a problem to get high res images taken down etc.

OF COURSE there's no way around the necessity to look it up and make sure everything is as it should be, you can't really get around that, but such is the life of an artist/commissioner with stuff that's popular; people will try to overstep their rights in name of public availability, a concept I'm sure they'd NOT be as okay with if they themselves spent the HOURS/hundreds of dollars on getting it made.

That's the problem with putting things on the internet. Once it's up there, it's there and it will get reposted. That's why I stopped doing written stories and commissions at all because that shit happened all the time. Rather galling when someone plagiarizes your work and/or identity, you catch them and they say "you should be honored that I'd even consider doing it" (word for word quote from one of them).

I've got issues with e621 for other reasons specifically due to blatant cronyism and twisting rules to suit staff members personal interests, but that's me.

I always saw it as free advertising so didn't want to get on the DNP, I'd still rather there be some middle ground so I don't actually have to ask to be DNP.

Argh, that sucks. x.x Completely understandable. For similar reasons I also get a little bit of a stale mouth when someone uploads art I've commissioned on e621; impersonation is waaaay too popular a sport among RP crowds.

One of my images is on e621 and I don't much care, one the top comments for it is something along the lines of:

"I'm not gay, but damn that's an awesome elephant ass."

It made me laugh, and made me feel pretty proud of m'self!

I can understand why an artist will do the things they do and it pains me to see bad things happen to someone I know. I can only hope those who perpetrate stupid things wake up to what they are doing.

I like e621 because it's sort of like a feed of art from all art sites, and since I don't liberally search each of them for my interests, as well as how some artists only post on one or a couple, it really helps finding art I'd otherwise miss. Though that doesn't excuse the behavior of those people being jerks with no consideration for the artists of those pictures.

Honestly many people outside of the furry community refer to E621 as basically a gateway drug. I understand you left because of art theft, but I disagree that pulling everything is your best interest because then newcomers who never bother coming here may never know about your art. At least they tag credit and artist source.

Plus what's so bad about "tag what you see" anyway? Out of context a herm hiding her vag looks like a mere futa and that's what people do - search out of context. Not everyone who may enjoy your artwork may care enough to learn about their full details.

Glad I came over to your page and found this. The idea that an artist is DNP is unfortunately a hearsay thing, where once one person says it the rumor just spreads like wildfire. I'll be sure to point this out for them.
