Anthrocon 2016 Report
Now that Anthrocon is over and I’ve had a day to scan everything and rest it is time for that post-con report.
This was only my second trip to Anthrocon, and my second furry con too, but even after skipping a year I was greeted with the unforgettable Westin elevator line experience. But, the room itself was nice and the roommates were even better.
argentvz,
dsc85 (Tegon),
geldazane (Bronzewing), and
orenthes all proved to be excellent and very entertaining roomies. And wow, as Tegon pointed out in his report ( http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7679594/ ), Orenthes had quite the amount of food knowledge, which he demonstrated when Tegon treated us all to diner on Thursday.
Thanks to my previous experience at Anthrocon 2014 I was a bit more prepared for this one and I was able to hit just about everyone I wanted to that was there in the Dealers’ Den and the Artists’ Alley on Friday. The one exception was
darknatasha, who I was very lucky to catch on Saturday. Unfortunately, playing the line game in the Artists’ Alley did make me late for the Macro Meetup, but I did still make it in time to see the amazing VR version of
cantstopgrowing’s dragon growth animation that
jamesfoxes had made. Afterwards I enjoyed a rather entertaining meal with a few of the macros from the meetup. Finally, I ended the night with a couple rounds of Cards Against Humanity with my roommates, which was a rather nice way to cap of the day.
Saturday was spent doing my rounds of Den and Alley again, collecting my first ever badges and getting more work from artists that had not been there the previous day. Then it was off to the fursuit parade that was seemingly without end. I personally think Anthrocon just likes really long lines of things, no matter what they may be. Later on that night I would attend the macro/micro party where I loved seeing the enthusiastic greeting between
skonk and TripleL ( https://www.weasyl.com/~triplel ).
Sunday would be spent running around collecting what art I had commissioned and just hanging out with various people. Even managed to commission
tyrnn, who has been my white whale as far as commissions go. My roommates had to leave earlier than I did, but we were able to enjoy a nice farewell in the hotel restaurant.
crux was kind enough to invite me out to a final meal. Then I spent most of my remaining time in the Zoo in the Westin. It was there I learned that not only does
nommz have a signature fro, but he also has a signature laugh that may as well be the “call of the Nommz” that lets anyone he knows home in on him even in a large crowded and somewhat noisy room.
I probably did stay later than I should have since I was driving myself back home, but that was nothing that a nice sized bottle of ginger ale, a couple candy bars, and a bag of chips couldn’t help with. Now I have quite a few more pictures to add to my next wave, which is getting fairly large and I probably should post right away, but I won’t because I’m too lazy to do it at the moment. Oh well, maybe after I get a few more things that are in the work.
And let me thank my roommates for having me. They were all a real pleasure. It was also so wonderful getting to see so many people again and getting to meet a lot of you for the first time. I had a blast and will definitely be attending AC again.

It was a pleasure to meet you!
I definitely wouldn't mind doing it again either.
Oh well, maybe next year?
Neopuc, I wanted to say that I found you personally to be a thoroughly entertaining and pleasant individual to interact with. Plus I found it amusing that we had an uncanny knack for finding each other in the Dealer's Den.
Also, we all need to play Cards Against Humanity & Snake Oil again. And we need to go to Kavsar (which is where I went with
You were real enjoyable to be around too. I thought you were full of interesting conversation. And yeah, somehow I seemed to be able to lose everyone in the Dealer's Den, but I always ran into you again.
Those card games were a nice way to end the nights and it would be great to play with you all again. I would love to go to the Kavsar too. You both made it sound so good.
Oh yes, I did often notice you observing and listening to the various conversations I had with Argent and others, I quite appreciate your interest! You have a way with conversation yourself, just a really nice, easy charm that makes it very rewarding to chat with you. You were the first member of our group that I technically met after all. :}
Yes that was rather odd that we kept inadvertently rediscovering each other, I wish I had that ability with the other people I tried to find during the con.
And I think all of those things are definitely worth doing again, along with an expedition to Kavsar. There's also the Micro Cafe right nearby, which is as sure a sign as any that we're in the right place.
That dinner really was one to be remembered.
