Thoughts on Tips/Commissions for Covers? Need Input!

So I've been thinking for a while now: I've been getting tons of requests and suggestions this year to cover certain songs, and I'm wondering if I should start offering some cheap commissions for covering a song, like $5 or maybe even Pay What You Want.
Or maybe I'd do better just putting up a
jar on my front page, with a link to my PayPal info?
What do you guys think? Would you be willing to give me money to sing a specific song for you?

I don't think $5 for a request is unreasonable, especially considering the amount of work you have to put into it. Learning the song, buying the track, recording time, etc.
