First of all, all tattoo artists should be willing to do customs. Its really only special sales that they will do pre-made tattoos.

When looking for an artist, you want to look through their portfolio and find someone whose style you like. I've never seen a furry-specific tattoo artist, ao you might be looking for a realism artist or a comic-style artist, or even a watercolor-style artist. You want to find someone local to you, ideally, because plane tickets can get expensive. You can start by going around to your local tattoo parlors and asking to see their portfolios. Or, if you live near a city, its possible that you will have a tattoo convention. Dex and I plan on attending one near us to find an artist we like.

I'm not looking for a tattoo artist to go visit. I'm looking for a tattoo artist for concept art that is familiar with the furry fandom because my next tattoo has to do with Chiima and it's extremely important to me.
The reason why I'm asking for people to reccomend artists to me is so that I can look at a bunch of different styles to see what I like. After I find a style I like, I'll see if I can't get a commission of some concept art of some sort from said person to bring to my local tattoo artist from whom I have gotten all my tattoos before now.

Wow, I had no idea you could bring a different artist's art to a tattoo artist for them to copy onto skin. That's really cool actually.

well, like I said, I just want concept art lol. something to bring to my artist and say "something like this" because I'm really crappy at talking out my ideas and I want to be able to give a few images of the style I'm looking for as well as posing~

I could draw the design but style would be radically different.

I'm sure some tattoo artists would not want their designs to be tattoo'ed by someone else, but as long as they give permission (as with anything) you can do whatever~

Go to any artist. Ask for a copy of the Lindsey as well as the colored piece. Then it can be used by your tattoo artist.

WELL I doubly recommend her and can attest that if you can make the trip to her shop, she's just as good in the actual execution of the tattoo as the designing.

Depending on style.  Monsterroo did my most recent tattoo design for me. :)

My roommate can draw some pretty sweet stuff for tattoos. He drew his own tattoos, and he drew a pretty sweet hummingbird for his mom. I can see if he would consider something? :)
