Anthrocon 2016 Con Report!

Update! Here's my AC 2016 photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/wbtx/.....19230756/page1
It never fails - although I try to arrive in Pittsburgh early and make an almost week-long vacation out of Anthrocon, the con always blows right by me and soon its time to go home. It was another blast of big time furry fun with so many things going on in a beautiful city that loves us. I arrived around 10pm after a couple of rain delays in Atlanta, ate a big burger at Bill's Burgers and hit the bed early. Wednsday I spent almost two hours in Eide's Entertainment looking at vinyl and CD's. I bought about 5 45's (a couple of Elvis Sun 45 reproductions) and a couple of CD's. I also checked out the Exchange (right by Fernando's) and bought a couple of used CD's for 5 bucks each to replace some CD's that have somehow disappeared in my collection over the years (aka "Can I borrow this CD? - I'll bring it back tomorrow...").
Anyway the con was well ran and I have no major complaints. I usually try to snag a room at the Marriott Courtyard as soon as registrations go online, but this time the place filled up in like 7 seconds this year. I was told a few years ago by someone on staff that the Courtyard's room block is only 70 rooms, so no wonder. Anyway I got a single room at the Westin, and had the usual fears about the elevators not working or taking 20 minutes to get on one. But the Westin had upgraded the elevator system last year to a computer ran system that worked smoothly and I don't remember spending much time waiting in line in the lobby for it, maybe 10 minutes.
The highlight was the outdoor public fursuit parade. I saw photos and video of last years parade (which I missed) and freaked at the huge turnout of people who wanted to see it. So after the supersponsor lunch I arrived about 30 minutes before the parade and found the city sitting up chairs around the DLCC. So I took the opportunity to get a good seat and then slowly a huge mob of parents and their kids showed up and the parade began. It really felt like a parade at Disneyland/World. I'm surprised I got some good video of it because of all the distractions of kids running to the fursuiters to get high-fives or pictures and their parents trying to control them, or get selfies themselves. Anyway it was a lot of crazy fun and I'm glad to finally experience it.
My only disappointment about AC this year was there was some people who attended in the past I wanted to see again but didn't make it, or I just didn't run into them. With 7100 furries its so easy to see someone for a few minutes and then never see them for the rest of the con. But I still had a great time, and I hope to make it back next year!
Next events I'll be attending is Furry Siesta (a overnight furmeet in Dallas at the old TFF hotel) and then Megaplex and MFM. Hope to see ya there.
