A random fan, with no budget, can be more faithful to the source material than DC. the people who claim they re putting some effort but cant give you a trailer with bit of good animation
That doesn't mean they're changing it, that just means they're expanding a bit on her. And since the story is kinda centered around her and Gordon, I see nothing wrong with that as long as the rest follows the comics for the most part, which they've said it does
the killing joke its self contained story. Expanding it means aiding stuff that changes the way you interpret the story. Not mention, that they have also, in fact, changed scenes to make the story an action escapist fantasy and not the horror story it was.
Also the story doesn't centered around barbara gorndon. Its centered around The Joker, and two a second degree on Gordon and Batman.
Now, that's not to say, Barbara does have an important part . heck! i would say her scene is the best scene in the story, but Y'see..
Comics are written and visual medium .. you are telling the story as much in the visuals as in the text, and while you can argue that a lot of the text has been preserved, The visual have not . in
For example, in the film, gordon never looks back at harvey dent and this one is not presented in the story in the same way ... which makes the scene have different taste and meaning in the context of the story.
This a problem happens a lot .. The characters do not convey the same feeling or ideas than in the comic.. and this important because this is alan moore we are talking about .. they guy do pay allot of attention at does little scene details when he tell a story

But yeah...DC animated movies usually don't fly far. I liked some like batman mask of the phantasm, but that was a long time ago!
