Anthrocon 2016 From The Wildcat's Perspective
9 years ago
It's been a week since I was in Pittsburgh for the world's largest convention for anthropomorphic animal enthusiasts, and now that I have the time to write about my experience at AC, here we go!
I left home early on Wednesday morning. I got to the airport at around 6AM, and flew out of Boston a few minutes before 9. I arrived at the Pittsburgh Airport a few minutes before the scheduled arrival time.
kazee took me and
danruk to the city of Pittsburgh. I went to volunteer for the con, stuffing con bags for a few hours, before heading over to the Doubletree, where my roommate,
anthrocoon was.
I attended panels such as the "To Absent Friends" panel on Thursday evening, where I shared prints of my tribute art to the late
jbadger (Pic can be found here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20178614/ ), the Zootopia fan panel, two of Tracy Butler's panels (the Q&A and the live drawing panel), and Joe Strike's panel. I also went to the Buca Di Beppo meet on Thursday evening, the AC dance parties, Uncle Kage's Story Hour, and saw the Fursuit Parade. (I have to say, I knew that Fursuit Parade was going to be long, but YIKES! Over an hour long!!! It was still very fun to watch, though. It was the best one I've ever seen! It was especially fun with the band playing!)
I got to commission a few artists, including
shenanigan,
cooner,
marcimcadam,
pacopanda,
toonfx, and
kelvinthelion. All commissions came out great! In addition, I got Lackadaisy Volume II signed by Tracy Butler when I got to meet her!
As for volunteer work, along with stuffing con bags, I also helped out at registration and the Masquerade. I earned a free t-shirt for the amount of volunteer time I've done.
I left Pittsburgh the Monday after the convention ended. I got back home in time to pick up a quick dinner and see the Fourth of July fireworks back here in Waltham.
It was another great con. I want to thank everyone who made this a great weekend, the AC staff, the volunteers, attendees who I got to meet, etc. I'm already saving up for next year. I'm looking forward to next year's AC, especially with the theme it'll have! (I'm gonna be quite busy submission-blasting the conbook! LOL)
To everyone who went, I hope you all had a safe and wonderful vacation out in Pittsburgh!

When I tried to sign in furaffinity, the name "pandapaco" was already used :C that's why I had to create my account as "pacopanda". And then I realized the account pandapaco was completaly empty! D:
A friend of me, many years ago, helped me to enter that account, and that way I could post there that was not my account, hehe. Linking the real one.
OK that was not my real point on this comment, it is that it was nice to meet you there, it was a pleasure to do a commission for you, I enjoy doing toony characters.
It's nice that you enjoyed that much the convention X3
I hope see you next year.
