I agree with your later conclusion that "ain't either of 'em good", but personally I hope he died trying something pleasurable and exciting (if dangerous) rather than bottoming out in the pit of despair. Suicide through depression is an utterly vile way for anybody to die.

He was one of those people I wish I had met before he died...like Arthur C. Clarke and Ray Walston and Carl Sagan. He was one of those rare types that don't come along very often.

It's actually kinda sad to hear everyone only talking about Kill Bill, which is weird to me because the movie was an hommage to the cool stuff from the '70s and early '80s like Shaw Brothers' "Kung Fu Theater" stuff.

Every time David Carradine showed up in stuff, it used to be "Wow, it's the guy from Kung Fu!"

I can still see him playing that flute, you know? Good times. Almost as cool as the ending to the Incredible Hulk show with Lou Ferrigno.

I have all three seasons of Kung Fu on dvd and I like to trot them out and work my way through them from time to time. I know he wasn't like Caine REALLY...but I like to think that he had it together more than I do. I'd prefer to think that, in the end, he just got carried away having a bit of fun rather than that he was ultimately unable to cope with living...in fact, I CAN'T believe that of him. He was 72, but still radical and free-wheeling and experimenting with sexual expression. I feel sad that he's gone--he's one of the people I would have liked to have met--but I hope I'm that vital and audacious when I'm on the other side of 70!

So will I--he was 72 years old; I figure the time I start experimenting with autoerotic asphyxiation in such dangerous ways as hanging is when I'm so old that my body is starting to fail from old age anyway... guess he figured the same thing! Like, "I'd rather not die doing this, but it's a definite possibility, so I'll wait till I reach an age when death doesn't seem like so much of a loss. Just in case."

Sometimes I feel like I'm already at that point and I'm only 44! Seriously tho--it may be kind of an embarrassing way to go, but how is it really any different than getting killed doing any extreme type of activity. The difference being--he was frickin' 72! David Carradine was filming a new movie. It is tragic he went out that way, but he was found with his hands tied behind his back too, so it is probable that this is a homicide. And that it will never be solved, since it happened in Thailand.

His body is uninhabited but he is still around us, and will live forever on DVD.

God bless you David, I will miss you, I liked all your acting and the roles you portrayed, I would have liked to have met you too. Goodbye Kwai Chang, Bill, Woodie, Shane, Coy, Frankenstien, And the other 94 roles you did, we will miss you...

I heard that Bruce Lee was considered for the role in Kung Fu, but he was doing the Green Hornet thing at the time, and David sealed it by doing something like kicking the top part of the door and showing up barefoot.

Perhaps he was having fun with a prostitute who did what Carradine wanted but tragically overestimated Carradine's stamina. By my values, better that than suicide.

The last role I saw him in was Big Stan, and he played The Master. He'll be missed.

I was pretty shock about his dead, especially when he's dead close to my country :(
