They seem really simple to me, too, but I figure it's not the same for everyone. And for those who have figured it out, a little reassurance never hurts.

About what I was expecting, but well presented. I wonder how it'd work to pour one like that, then slowly start pouring the other to make a spiral fade sort of thing.

You can combine techniques without any real troubles. I've also done spirals with as many as 4 colors at once.
