Sometimes I wonder if I'm really any good at what I do, whether the people who say they like my work mean it or not.
In these times I like to give myself some perspective.
I recently stumbled across a story. "Sister Catches Brother". It is about a girl who walks in on her brother masturbating and ends up sleeping with him. Of course.
This makes it perfect for my purposes: comparison. I read that story, then I read one of my stories about Dave and Kelly Parrish, a brother and sister who end up sleeping together, and I feel better again.
Now, I don't normally go out of my way to be a douche, but let's face it - the story consists entirely of dialogue, like a radio play - which can work, I've seen it done... just not like this. It also contains lines like "You're sodomizing me.. Your sister... Your own flesh and blood... You're sodomizing my slutty asshole... We're committing sodomy... Sodomy and incest...", so I think me being a douche is the least of this guy's problems.
Well I'll put it this way. If you are this 4BIDDEN chap, and are offended, I'll take this journal down.
Just one bit of advice:
Don't quit your day job.

judge not based on others, judge only on whether you did your best. Only one who can be critical of his own work can ever hope to improve, and even the best can improve.
we're all in this together. Keep yer head up.
Sometimes you can get lucky and you can tell by the first line that a story's bad just by the sheer amount of grammatical mistakes or language used. Usually with "bad" art, the artist will generally get better over time, but writing is generally a style of writing that stays the same no matter how much the writer writes (geeze, can I use any more variations of "write" in a single sentence?).
Anyway, you're a great writer; never doubt yourself, heh.
You are a very talented writer! Don't doubt that!
