I haven't seen the original in years, and I really hope they'll do justice to it in the new one, but this IS Disney we're talking about. They usually take extra time to make sure it is good... ^0o^

Although, technically, the original was live-action too, just with a cartoon dragon. Kind of like the inhabitants of the Island of Nabumboo from Bedknobs and Broomsticks...

All I know, is it's about this kid who's been living in the wild for 6 years No one knows how he survived. "Elliott helped me.". I squeeeeeeee'd.

seen the original and this new adaptation is nothing like the original

I've been following it for a while.

I am disappoint.

It lacks any sense of whimsy or charm, the animated Eliot is less "charming animated goof" and more "demonic killbeast who looks like every other modern CGI demonic killbeast" and just from what I can see none of the actors can muster even half the charisma of Helen Reddy or Mackey Rooney. It looks like another overwrought high-drama action movie with car chases and explosions.

They should leave movies alone unless they are shot-for-shot remakes with just improved effects. Practical effects.

I tend to agree, but Disney usually does a halfway decent job. You know they're mostly doing these remakes for copyright protection, right? Lots of companies do this sort of thing. A large part of the reasoning behind rebooting older, seldom used characters is to protect copyright, which only lasts so long. :P

Disney scumbags strike again, more loophole abuse and dirty tricks to make sure the spice will flow. They're destroying copyright by extending it so much that soon Public Domain won't exist.
