I'm not too familiar with this adopts lol? :P but I see it often so its like someone thinks up a character and style and what not then you just buy it out right and you 100% own all rights to it type of deal?

If so I don't often see ones I would consider buying and I'm more the type who would rather make up my own and try be original ^_^ so it doesn't really bother me when I see theses adopts

But why not draw your own instead of buying them venom? :)

I do draw/design my own characters rather frequently. I have far too many, in fact, that I've designed myself. However, sometimes people create characters that look very awesome, and I go "I totally like that, I want to buy it!" I find, in those cases, it's better to buy the character someone else designed, than to take the general idea and try to make my own character from it. Because, that can quickly become copying/plagarizing the character.

Usually I buy adoptables of characters that I would never end up designing myself. The types of characters I design are very specific, I don't usually make say, centaurs or monster characters. I have a certain aesthetic. So, if I see a design that I would have never thought of in the first place, but I like it, I also like to sometimes adopt them. c:

As for how the rights of adoptables work, it really depends from adopt to adopt. Some people will let you own the character, but will insist that you continually put information that says it's their species and design. Some people will let you do whatever with the design, other than any kind of publishing or the like. And still others will give you full rights.

To be fair, I was designing characters for 11+ years before I ever adopted one. I've been designing my own characters about 20-ish years now, so not having to think up a handful of designs is useful. And means I'm less likely to use the same design idea over again while designing my own OCs. If you look at some of my old designs, when I was constantly designing my own characters, you will notice some rehashed ideas. lol

hehe cool :P for me i'm taking my own approach to designing my characters :) so I can avoid any originality or copying issues like first i'm doing all my character sheets of my normal looking self as the few species I'v have listed at the moment there are more I'v just have't bothered to change and update my profile yet as I'm still working on getting them character sheets out my wolf one is done next is my cow :),

Once my normal characters are made like wolf version of me cow mouse so on I'll ether want to add more to that list or go ahead and make a hybrid character of myself mix stuff up from some of my characters I'v have and some I don't even colors and what not,

Witch will leave me a nice and original character for myself while I'v got the normal looking versions of myself :) that's more common then it being original like my characters would be animal's versions of myself like if I was in a world like zootopia :P

Anyways cool I'v never looked into adopting any character probably won't for a long time with my big list of things I'v got planed to do :) so good luck with your future adopts can't wait to see them :D <3

Maybe, when I make it out on the other side of my debt, I'll be able to consider it more seriously. ♥

 pinkunokuma had a FABULOUS char up for adoption the other day and I had to sit on my hands to keep from claiming. No, Kaiso, you just spent too much money while vacationing. And now my budgie needs special food. Blehhh... (I'd do anything for that bird, I don't mind that much, really.)

I mean, I am sorry that you know what it is like, too. But, at the same time, it's nice to know that other people also stare longingly at adopts and go 'I just can't, I totally want, but I shouldn't.'
