I believe many people have been approaching this issue the wrong way. I am not here to tell you what you can or can not do with your character and I'm not going to tell you what limitations you must have to enjoy the character. I don't give a damn, go stick dicks on airplanes or whatever else rocks your socks. Enjoy your weird furry life.

All that the community is ultimately been suggesting to you boils down to one thing: a simple request to properly label your character with the appropriate species. Your character would be much better classified as an angel dragon, not a Dutchie and in turn much better received and appreciated by others. I don't know about you, but I want other people to enjoy my characters not hate them. But how come this is such an issue? And why does this even matter? I thought you and perhaps others curious might be interested in hearing why so many people are messaging you about this so passionately in the first place.


It matters to a lot of people for several different reasons. For many who adore this species, one of the reasons they love it so much is because it is so family friendly and innocent. To them, putting a genitalia on a Dutch Angel Dragon is like... photoshoping a giant horsecock on a photo of baby or a child- it's absolutely repulsive and horrifying to see someone violate something that is so non-sexual and innocent with something like that. (Sorry for that example, I just couldn't think of anything sacred enough that people wouldn't want to violate, especially in this fandom.) The point being that people feel it is an immoral act and they would like to see it brought to justice. Just wanted to help put that into perspective.


Dutch Angel Dragons are also a species with specific phenotypes- that is, a list of highly specific traits that all members of the species share in order to be properly classified as a member of that species. If one thing is missing, then it's a different species, that's simply how its set up. (And disclaimer I'm using the furry definition of "species" as opposed to the scientific one). This is how every plant and animal is classified in our world. It's what separates dogs from cats and dogs from wolves and dog breeds from other dog breeds and that distinction is arguably important to maintain, primarily because ignoring these facts creates confusion and misinformation... and that's what you're promoting here and that's simply another thing people won't stand for: ignorance and/or the willful intention of misinforming people out of spite. Another injustice.

People can be very passionate about getting the facts straight. Best example I can think of that relates to the fandom is the common misconception that maned wolves are a type of wolf. Anyone who spreads misinformation that they are wolves are quickly ridiculed and/or corrected to make sure they know that they are actually foxes despite the name. Same situation here, except you are refusing to correct yourself repeatedly saying "I can do what I want!" Fine, do it. Fuck the police. Call your maned wolf a type of wolf even though you know better. You will be subject to severe criticism, hate, and eye rolls... but ultimately you are really just contributing to the problem of doing the fandom a disservice insisting to call your character something that it is classified it cannot be. It honestly just doesn't paint you in a good light, if you even give a damn about other people's opinion of you or your characters. Some people are just angry at you, but some may just genuinely want to help you better understand and don't want you to receive negativity when it could do easily be avoided. Just make up a new species and call them "long legged wolves", suddenly the problem goes away and people are actually curious and interested in your unique character instead of coming to you to fight about it.



So I don't honestly know how much you know or care to know about Dutch Angel Dragons, but for anyone reading that isn't familiar, they are supernatural beings that exist in another dimension; so in our world we basically perceive them as nonphysical ghosts or guardian angels. There is a whole lore and world developed for them. They have five traits that define the species, things like (paraphrased) "they must have a horse-like anatomy, long ears, and feathered wings."

That list of traits very plainly says they do not have genitalia of any kind, nor do they have gender identities or sexes and not even understand the concept of what that is like. That's part of what makes the species what it is at its very core. This is a well documented trait/phenotype for the species that you claim your character belongs to. So insisting that it IS a Dutchie despite this fact is just... illogical. People are probably laughing at you :(


Comparing this situation to airplanes with dicks isn't relevant because airplanes aren't a species. Airplanes don't have phenotypes. Comparing it to any other fantasy species, like Pokémon for instance, makes more sense. Sure there are no visible genitalia because it is family friendly, but is is very obvious Pokémon are sexual creatures since they reproduce and have male and female members. Pokémon do not have any specific requirements published by Nintendo that says "they do not have sexes or genders or reproductive organs" so nothing is stopping you from representing that (well, except copyright but they turn a blind eye to it) or at the very least providing the justification for it to exist and be depicted graphically. I really can't think of anything else that *explicitly* defines the lack of sexual traits as a whole as part of the definition of the actual species like DutchADs do. So it's really pretty simple to understand why people are upset with you there.


Lastly, to top it all off, I hear the original artist who designed your character is absolutely disgusted and appalled at what you have done. If the artist had known you would have made this innocent lovely character that literally stands for the opposite of what you turned it into, I'm sure they would have never sold it to you. People are simply ashamed and upset with your behavior. They wish more then anything you would just have the common decency to respect the original artist, the species, its community, and of course Ino who is indeed ultimately responsible for your character's existence in the first place... and simply remove the word "Dutch" from your character.

Like, that's literally all it would take to make the hate go away and not make yourself look like an absolute dick.

Angel dragons can be sexual. Angel dragons are encouraged to be as original and creative as your weird little heart desires them to be. Angel dragons are celebrated for their ability to be both cute and sexy and are indeed plenty well received as such. But NOT Dutch Angel Dragons, as you can so plainly see.

You will no doubt continue to receive hate mail and requests to assign your character to a more appropriate species until then. If that's what you want- more hate from the fandom instead of more love- then fine. Enjoy that. Have fun dealing with stupid shit forever and keep doing whatever you want.

If my explainions and suggestions truly make no sense to you, and you won't address any specific points, then my opinion is that you severely lack comprehension, empathy, and respect and that's extraordinary disappointing to learn. I thought you might be better than that and in some small way I could potentially reach you in a way that others could not. I suppose that will be the end of this conversation then.
