I had an old account of mine hacked long ago. The pieces of shit that dare call themselves customer support were positively useless in getting my account back. I sent so many emails and it ended up going up the chain and I made several people angry I think, because they just stopped responding to me. Skype has just gotten positively awful in the last year or two.

Here's the thing, it's not really Microsoft. Skype is a Finnish company and they tend to act independently with some direction here and there from Microsoft, but overall they do what they want. It's unfortunately resulted in a lot of bad prioritizing in features and bugfixes, and it's very clear they're skimping on proper security and customer service. There is literally only one or two people I talk to on Skype these days. I'm very close to telling those two people that I no longer wish to deal with it and if they absolutely want to talk to me they'll either create an account on Discord or use Telegram. I'm seriously about done.

And I just set up a Skype account myself, should I consider not using it from what you say happened to you ?

The same exact thing happened to me. I'm pretty much only present on Telegram now, and fuck Skype and their "Well if you don't know the exact date you created this ten year old account, we can't help you, so sorry, maybe you should have kept all your personal information current! Our automated system is the only way to get your account back, and well, who cares if you've been using that same username for a decade, you can always just make a new account and then try to remember the skype names of everyone on your list, tee hee~"
