Buy a suit or not...?
Hi!
Since long time ago that I started to have fetishes I want a suit. And now I have the money to get one. I don't have too much (well much money is relative), but it is enoght to order a dicent mascot costume (Im thinking maybe a gatomon suit) without have any problems with money. I mean have a costume would be like a dream come true.
But here is the other side of the coin. First my family is the idea of have very good financial habits. What is great! But in this case is something I realy want since a long time ago but I've never spend too much money in something so "trivial" as a suit.and makes me feel gulty that I don't save my money for more important things for my future as a house or a new car. Then the second problem. I go with psichologist from some time now. And recently he has suggested that I should try to left my fetishes. That I am too old for have this habits, that I should focus my sexuality in a healthier way, on human beens insted plushies or inflatables. And I understend, I mean I also like regular sex. I even had a girlfriend few months ago. But it is hard for me to left my fetishes (and I don't want to) and maybe buy a suit is going to make me get more into it.
Finaly I want to share all this because I've just heard reasons of why not I should buy it and it comes from people who isn't realy feeling what I feel with all this fetish stuff. And maybe not just fetish, it would be fun go to a convetion with a suit. And I'd like to hear what the people here with similar interest say about all this or at least feel listened.
Thanks for read
Pd: sorry for any grammar mistake Im still working on that.

If a suit is really something you want, I say you should go for it.
Looking at it in terms of the money is much more reasonable. Saving is important, but all the money in the world won't do you any good if you're unhappy and never get to spend it.
If you're worried, what you could do is just set some money aside each time you get paid, so that you can save up to get the suit without too badly affecting your total savings.
And Gatomon sounds like a great choice.
In fact I save money for the suit but still I feel guilty if I spend it.
Now, fetish aspect aside- and let's say you can't attend a convention- the two main reasons for it. What other use is there?
To go directly against your psychologist - comfort.
My very first suit was a 'cheap' mascot costume of a character I really enjoyed. Now just wearing it was a wonderful and calming feeling. Especially when the days were stressful.
I had taken a few naps inside of it, just sat around and thought, all that. It really doesn't have to be just fetish.
Your fetishes don't shape you, they're something that you seek, that you desire.
There is nothing wrong with having them, exploring them or fantasizing them.
Most fetishes are totally fine and don't hurt anyone.
Or in short- go for it, I am certain you will not regret it, but you may desire more later!
yeah that is my idea, I wont buy a fancy fursuit. I can but it really would undermine my savings, so I'll buy a cheap mascot suit from a non-Chinise decent mascot maker.
PD: nice suits in you gallery :D
My mascot was actually a Chinese make, but from years ago. There's some decent ones out there still, but you have to dig, unfortunately! ...cannot really argue with a 100$ price tag though! ...but those knock off namings they do- difficult to search!
Gosh yes... the material cost of a fursuit ranges from around 300-1000- from what I have made so far, but then there's however much the people want to sell their labor for! ...is always Furbuy for cheaper suits/pieces though! ...sometimes! ...but is also good for a laugh occasionally! Worth a peek`
Aw, thank you very much~ Still pretty 'new' at sewing them together- but I will certainly be working on plushies and more suits as soon as I get motivated!
That aside, since you're concerned about finance, I would suggest giving the key requirements in your life(electricity, car, heating, water, etc) a double check to ensure they'll last and you won't be caught with your pants down.
about money, I still live with my parents so I don't have to worry a lot about it, I just have to pay the water bills and when I go out with friends. my savings are more for thinking in the future.
I would almost say stop paying him and use the money to have some fun instead of being told such silly things. *flops and hugs*
my parents were alot the same way, more taken aback of what i spent rather than that i was a purple cow! but they were cool with it after the innitial shock and we still
joke about it, my family now activly encourages my sewing...gosh i really wish i could do it more... aaaanyways~ yeah~ your psyciatrist does not seem to have much
experiance with fetishism if his advice is to drop it and live a "normal" life. in fact its something alot of people have connected with each other on~ so who knows!
and right now aparently my family is ok if I buy a suit.
about my psychologist, maybe he is new in this IDK.
also~ i hope you share a picture of the gatomon you are looking at later! knowing you she is prolly super cute!
First off - do you have a job? Job goals? do you have an income to live on and maybe that little extra coming in to buy games or goto the movies?
This is key, because you can't make financial decisions if you aren't in control of having your own money.
As far as "should i buy a suit?" - there are a few factors
Will a cheap suit be what you want? or do you really want a nice high end fursuit? I can tell you from past experience - the cheap ones don't cut it - they are nice at first - cause you are excited that you finally got something you've wanted - but you quickly learn that it just isn't ALL of what you hoped and dreamed for.
Another factor is your age - you are still pretty young - got a lot of things ahead of you (house, car, etc) so you need to build for that future with an education or apprenticeship towards the job / career you want, and focus on becoming independent - but at the same time, be sure to not sacrifice having any fun at all - cause that you will regret. I won't lie - i was always very jelous of the younger people that had full fursuits like i wanted (as in 19 or 20 years old - i didn't get my nice suits until i was 28) - but now i see it was better the way i did it - as those young people are having trouble getting the house/car/etc in line - while now i have those lined up AND the suit.
Final factor is what do you spend your 'fun' money on now? do you go out to eat a lot? do you goto the movies and buy videogames? If so, you can cut these things down or entirely (like not going to the movies, or eating out less) and the money you save from that - then when you buy a suit - you can use that money that you aren't spending on movies / food / games to build back your financial buffer.
Remember - you work hard for what you earn, and as I have been reminded recently myself - it's not a crime to enjoy the fruits of your labor by buying something you want - that others might think is frivolous - because it's something that will make you happy - that has value, its not frivolous at all.
On a side note - find a new psychiatrist - fetishes are what they are - saying you need to step away from them is like telling a gay guy he needs to step away from being attracted to men....its flat out worthless advice.
I hope that helps some - feel free to ask if you have any questions about what i wrote!
I'm still in the university and the closest thing to a job that I have is school-work so with that I get an schoolarship and my parents decided to give me some money of the porcentaje of the schoolarship, not to much but enought to buy the stuff that I need go out with friends and still save money, for my luck the movies, the food, go out with friends, and videogames are cheaper in Mexico (well videogames just on steam are cheaper than other countries, physical copies are more expensive). and some more money I make comes from make commissions here on FA usually I used for buy stuff that I like like games or some stuff I like, also I save some. in fact I stoped to buy stuff to try to save for a fursuit. I have a plush collection and I stoped to buy plushies months ago.
first I want something not as expensive as a fursuit because I have other interests, also as much I like fursuits, I'd love to have one in the future. I want first a decent mascot suit becuase by know I want first something more "cartoony" "clumsy" and the fur suits are more stylized, skinny, also see If i like the experience.
I got myself something I really wanted, a kigurumi cosplay (can't post pics as a reply and I have no clue how to else) and its the most amazing time I've ever had!
