People say it is overhyped, as people expected it to be a multiplayer game in a huge universe, yet it turned out it was just a 'fly-around-and-gather-ressources-to-upgrade-spaceship' game.
It was over-hyped, by people that have no apparent ability to look at a video and see what's actually there. They look at videos, and immediately dial everything up to 11.
"OH THE DEVS MENTIONED THAT YOU HAVE A VERY MINUSCULE CHANCE OF MEETING OTHER PLAYERS, I GUESS THIS IS A HUGE MULTIPLAYER GAME THEN."
At no point did they ever release anything that made it look like more than a "fly around and gather resources" game, it's just super frustrating to me that people are apparently stupid enough to fall to hype like that.
It's a lot of fun for me as it's super relaxing and laidback (like they said it would be) with gorgeous visuals. I just truck around space looking at things.
If I wanted excitement there are so many other options out there.
This isn't a dig at you, just a rant at the idiocy that permeates the lead-up to new games these days.
I think as long as its relaxing and cool, I'm happy! I think people were expecting the second coming of Eve Online or something! like I think people wanted to be the savior of PC gaming or whatever and as far as I've played its like preeeety rad, but nothing UNIMAGNIABLEY AMAZING, ya feel? But hey overhype is what the internet's all about
Looks fun if you like a chill sort of exploratory / mining game. The studio behind it only has 15 employees, so for what they did it's pretty neat-o so far. Gets quite repetitive, but at least there's wonderful music to go along with it.
I'm waiting til it goes on sale and if there's any patches to add new features.
To me it looks like another sign of games evolving and changing, exploring and doing new things. I honestly think the future of gaming really lies in Indie projects or small time developers like this one. Because lets face it, the big ones like Square, Bethesda and Nintendo are just stuck to their big name franchises.
Honestly you should probably check a quick look and see if you like what is being done. According to reviews you kinda do the same thing over and over so if you like what you see there then maybe you'll like it
First:
Seriously, was the people aware the game was an exploration game?
if the game was a "walking simulator" to them, they should not have bought the game in the first place!
Second:
PC version has currently a very awful optimization, i mean, Arkham Knight or MK X levels of optimization. It's recommendable to wait til' a patch comes out and fix the game on Steam. (Most of the negative reviews were because of this.)
haha dude I'm totally feeling it! I've got 32 GB of RAM and its still chugging lol. I'm sure it'll get patched later. But I happen to love walking simulators lol
I heard it's poorly optimized for the PC currently. I'd say just wait for all the complaining to die down and for a price drop before buying No Mans Sky.

But seriously my roommate just bought this. We all told him not to.
And he did anyways.
Guess we get to hear him complain about it all night. |:
Also your avatar makes your comment the greatest.

4 GB RAM here, my PC would probably get wrecked by running this (Or at least playing it with the settings at low).
I love exploring tho. Speaking of which, I really hope Mass Effect Andromeda doesn't suck...
PPS.
I'm still trying to get into Destiny. Every now and then I come back to it, have fun, but get distracted by something else.
PPPS.
I can't wait for DOOM 2016 single player DLC and the eventual sequel. I cannot overstate how much I love the new lore.
PPPPS.
DS3 DLC will hopefully make me wanna play the game more. Sadly the PVP is just...no.
PPPPPS.
I'm also finally picking up Overwatch.
