Project X Patreon, yes or no, please read

Well... several friends suggested me to make a Patreon for the game.
I have to say I'm reticent about this, but after rolling the idea on my mind, I came out with, for what I think, something comfy for me and the fans, I already stated some time ago that I don't like Patreon for some stuffs, and I still don't like it.
My main issue with this crowfunding places is to keep and rewarding people that just pay, this is not really going to happen here.
All in all, the idea is using Patreon as a Tip Jar, for 1$ to be a Patron, as Miles said, if each fan put a single dollar, it would be great.
My secondary option, is make a pledge of 5$ for those who are kind of impatient, and wanna peek what we are doing, letting them able to see WIP stuff, like prototype character sprites, concept art, bgs, and animations of the current work we are doing, we will update this zone with more content, as time passes, you know, althought you guys don't see any updates, that not means we aren't working and doing things, just we don't show them (choo-choo trouble). So, if someone can't wait and wanna get aboard in the hype train, will be in their own responsability.
Keep in mind, that this is still a donation... is not going to make us give release dates and go super fast, but I'm sure that if I can reward my guys with some bucks, they will work better, or at least more comfy and eager to work more, also, say that the ones who donate will not get the demo first, the release will be for all at the same time.
Still, this is going to be an experiment, it will depends in all of you, and due the fact I don't want to betray the trust of my fans and give me the image of a money hungry monster, I'm posting this to know the opinions of all of you guys, I really need this time to get replys on this.
Thanks for the support and those who donated due the last post. <3

Wait, Briding Season, the hell is Briding Season?
One option for rewards is a voting system, such as letting people pick which pose you use for a given rape or which one to implement next for characters that are currently missing them.
As said above, if you start a patreon, keep it "paid-per-update" instead of "paid-per-month", and advertise it as "general stuff" where only your fans will know what it's really for, you should be fine. And honestly a patreon doesn't sound like a bad idea. It gives money to share between the creators, and it might help make things easier in your day-to-day lives so time dedicated to programming isn't so stressful.
Donation perks aren't always a bad idea too. The more someone donates per update, the more benefits they might get? Demos are fine for all, but there's no harm in encouraging higher donations with rewards to go with. Otherwise if everyone just gets the same thing, you risk either receiving the minimum amount, or none at all.
1. Set it up where it pulls immediately upon pledge.
For this reason, there will be accounts that will pledge to see the new content, then remove the pledge before the end of the month to prevent the money from being pulled.
2. Either way you choose for how often it pulls (monthly, per submission), you have to at least submit something on a regular basis.
If you choose per-month, you have to submit something in that month to get paid for it.
3. (As previously stated by Kaburon) Check the legality of this first.
A Parody may be allowed, then again it may not be. A different parody's Patreon from another famous artist was shut down due to the company finding it and filing a DCMA report. You have to verify on this first before you start.
As for copyright stuff the only things you're using are voice clips and the characters themselves. All the spritework and coding is your own and a lot of the music you use are fan remixes.
But the whole thing comes down to if you DO make a patreon people will be entitled to updates meaning you will have to bring the updates quicker and you should give people release dates because at that point their money is on the line and they expect something
So say you are in development, and some unexpected costs come up, or you realize you need to bring on another coder for consult, you can draw out a chunk of money from the money raised to invest back into the project as a sort of "Emergency fund".
I also haven't heard of any updates about it since...uh not sure when was the last update O.o. Either way. I am down with the idea of a patron.
I hope that you find somekind of way for fans to say "thank you" but crowdfunding like patreon feels like you are asking for trouble.
But just for the record, I will never follow a pateron.
Commercial success is the death of creativity, look at the crapfest that Planetary Annihilation became, when it had such high hopes, But primarily, say there are 50 artists I follow, and they all now have a pateron, so that's $50 a month I have to PAY just to see ART. Kills the purpose of things like Deviantart and FurAffinity, now that people are willing to pay for art, what's to stop things like Steam costing a monthly subsciption fee to use?
"It's just one dollar, you can't afford that?" Imagine that, someone poor wanting to see art, it used to be affordable: Ie not costing anything to see art! We already have to pay rent, electricity, internet service, and now a SUBSCRIPTION FEE? It's not just a dollar, it's ANOTHER dollar.
I'm not impatient, I just know better than to hope for things that nobody has any time to work on.
The problem is, that we all need money too. I think Donations are still the best option, not charging a subscription fee just to gain access to content, you won't be making money, you'll be angering the poor people who can't afford ANOTHER subscription fee.
That said, Zeta deserves all the money in the world, as hard as she and her team works on the game. But now they don't have time to work on it, because they have to go to work. And so do I.
On the topic of "angering the poor people who can't afford another sub" - Who cares? People should be really grateful that they're releasing the game for free. Zeta team has full rights to make the game Patreon-only, and people who would be crying about it would literally be whining that the team members are not giving up their free time to make a game for people who give nothing in return. Sure, they'd be praising the team and telling them how awesome their game is, but you can't buy things with praise.
You don't want to spend money - you don't get the product. You don't go into a bar crying that poor people want to drink beer too but they can't afford ANOTHER expense, so the owner should be giving out the beer for free, so why are you doing it with video games?
on the other hand, sega might go ham on your ass
Ignoring all the other stuff, you will be making money using copyrighted content, you could easily get shut down much like the MLP fighting game, or the Pokemon uranium.
If you get popular on patreon for it, the chances are you will get some form of cease and desist.
You may have made the game, but unless you replace all the copyrighted characters, you will still be using Segas stuff.
If you want to do a form of patreon, have it for your "Other work", Make up some random OC that isn't related to sonic and base all the stuff from that.
Best way I can think of getting away with it. Even then, still risky.
