I had no idea but in order for me to provide commissions, I actually NEED a business license! Nothing like being required to pay a hundred dollars a year to be allowed to earn MAYBE 40 a month just to make sure that the government gets their fair share of the nothing I make. o_0 It is actually illegal to sell things out of your own home, even digitally, without one!
But since I provide a service and I accept money for it, by doing it the way I have been, I am actually breaking the law. Did you know you are too? Most of you could be heavily fined and possibly even arrested for tax evasion and none of you even care.

But that sucks. It seems really restrictive for sole traders, or tradesmen/artists. I don't know what country/jurisdiction you are in so I cannot check for you.
Horray for regulations.... And I don't see the probelm if you claim it on your taxes.... but I'm not an artist, so I can't say for sure...

Or it's illegal to go sticking a penny into a vending machine that does not accept them.
Or it's illegal to bathe with your donkey on a Sunday...
Here's the question I'm getting at. If Political Figure X paid to make it illegal to breath the natural air and the only legal thing to do was buy PF's tanked air...would you do it to be legal?
Honestly...I would silently delete this whole posting, disavow any and all knowledge about this law and progress forth with what is most likely a thing that would never bite you at any point.
Even if the business is a failing piece of crap with no customers, its still a business and it still needs to be registered.
